Lost and alone OTA
Koschei knew his work on the temporal circuit was dangerous. It was work beyond most boys his age, even those attending the vaunted Prydonian Academy of the Time Lords. Still, Koschei was as competent as he was confident and he proceeded with great care. Still, accidents happen, even to the wary. Due to a flaw in a wire, the circuit overheated. It was set for a thirty second loop, so Koschei should have been fine. When the effects wore off however, he was no longer in his rooms on Gallifrey.
Koschei found himself on a strange, primitive planet. Concrete and gravel roads cut through the dirt. The sun was bright and hot, the plants suggesting a very warm climate. He walked slowly down the street, on the narrower concrete paths evidently meant for walking. People passed by him, dressed in trousers than came above their knees. Fortunately, Koschei recognized the language they spoke as English, one of the many languages he had already mastered. This must be Earth.
Koschei swallowed. He had no way of contacting Gallifrey. All he had in his pockets were a few bits of machinery and some smaller tools. He began walking, hoping he would find something to use, some authority to speak with. He knew Earth had long denied the existence of life on other worlds. He would have to take great care to not reveal himself.
