It's a Wild Wild Life
When: After a trip to California
Where: Central Park, New York.
Who: OTA
What:
The Rift has been active once again and Jack has taken a small group with him to of all places Central Park. It was nice to have localized activity above the HUB it was easier to find but it made the immortal uneasy.
Jack turned around with his Webley in one hand. He listened to his cheerleader under the HUB giving him and the others directions. The energy signal is a strange one that is leading him closer towards the Central Park zoo. It's a bright sunny day with families and tourists flocking over to see the exhibits.
"Hey, is anyone feeling a little strange?" Jack turns his head around and with an influx of people in the area he reholsters the gun. "Please, let's try not to cause anyone to panic." He tells the people with him and with a motion of his hand he gives a silent order to put the guns away. He pushes himself through the turn-style and he begins to make his way through the mass of people who are enjoying the warm weather.
'Careful Jack, you're getting closer to it's location. It's located in a far corner of the zoo grounds.' Toshiko says, through the commlink to everyone on the surface.
"I promise someone that we can do some guns a wavin," Jack jokes, but the matter is far from one as his hand slides into the pocket of his greatcoat when he pushes through a group of onlookers near a group of flamingos.

She takes another breath, "Märet is a meta-crisis born from Andrew and we're not sure who. He was a hand in a jar, we all got one from the Ood..."
She tapers off, she doesn't really want to think or remember these events, "I got one too. But mine was killed by the mistletoe, which got me locked in my own head."
She looks between them and returns to the present, "So I don't want no fightin', ya hear? You two've got nothing to fight over."
She ends with giving both of them 'The Look.'

There's still that hand in his TARDIS by the console that lured them to the planet of the Hath. "Oh, the hands, well that hand is my own hand. Still how would he..." The Doctor leans over to get a look at Maret again. "Become a hand. It'll be a mystery worth solving one day I'm sure.."
He winces at the mention of what lead to all of this. "No, no fighting. I'm enjoying the peace and I'm sure both Maret and Andrew are also." He gives Maret a wave of his hand. "Anyway, we were here to enjoy the day and I did need to mention there's an energy reading coming from this location."
no subject
"Dunno," says Andrew, looking mildly relieved to be let go of. "He doesn't talk much - and his full name's actually Märetskaldenon, but no one calls him that." Picking a traditional (but shortened) Gallifreyan name for a double meta-crisis had probably been an act of cultural treason on Andrew's part, but it wasn't as if the sort of Time Lords who would object were still around.
Märet, for his part, finally seems to take notice of the others and has been watching them over his shoulder for the past minute or two rather than looking forward and watching the lions. He's not sure about meeting new people still after what happened to him at the trial, though the fact that this is a Doctor like his own Doctor-thing helps.
Andrew's brow furrows at the mention of the energy signal. "There's a what?" he asks, concerned. "What sort?"
no subject
She probably doesn't have to tell Andrew and Märet, but she will anyway, "He does this every time! With The Library, it was first 'we're going to the beach' and suddenly, nope The Library. And this time, 'Oooo let's go to the Zoo'. Will I ever learn?"
Yeah, Donna's ranting a bit.

There's a bit of thinking involved on his part and then when Maret turns to look at him, he gives him a bewildered look. The face looks exactly like Saxon of all people. He shakes his head, nah it's not Saxon in the least bit. The hoodies and bleached hair aren't Master's attire from what he can recall.
"Oh, it still is turning out to be a lovely day at the zoo. I'm sure it's just a harmless bit of space trash that's calling out to us." The Doctor holds his hands out and he's going to reassure both that everything is fine and he hands the half eaten banana to Andrew. "Here hold that for me.." His hand is quick to go into the pockets of his brown coat to pull out his sonic screwdriver as he goes into a tirade of technobabble to Andrew.
He waves the sonic in the air and he listens to the sounds it makes. "I'll try taking you to the French Riviera next time Donna."
no subject
It occurs to him, belatedly, that this him won't have seen the Master looking the way Märet does, and might not have recognized him initially. He keeps his mouth shut, though - no sense telling him about the future, and the Doctor doesn't seem inclined to treat Märet like a potential enemy.
"It's never just space trash," he sighs, looking at the half-eaten banana in his hand. Märet turns to face him fully, interest piqued as always by the presence of food. Andrew switches the banana to his other hand, keeping it away from the meta-meta. "Not yours," he says. "I'll get you lunch later."

No, she couldn't resist getting the last dig in. She watches the exchange between Handy and Märet. She looks at her own ice cream and offers it to him, "Here, I shouldn't eat since we'll be running any minute. At least that's how it usually goes."
She looks over the Doctor's shoulder, trying to get the reading on the sonic, "It's not just space-trash, is it." It's a statement, like Andrew, she knew it was never just space trash. Unless it had nasty teeth or something...
no subject
His attention is drawn in the direction of the sonic and he begins to walk off. "I wasn't about to tell Donna that." He's going to risk a smack but there's no need to worry his friend. The TARDIS wouldn't of brought them here if she didn't feel there was something of interest out here.
The Doctor's about to run off in the direction of what's causing the disturbance. He's noticed one thing there's a lot of sparrows flying around but then again it's New York and there's just something off about these sparrows. The grace that some carry seems to be lacking with landing and flying in general. "Like I said it's a nice day and the birds are singing."
no subject
With a gentle tug on the leash to get Märet to follow, he's off after the Doctor at an only slightly more sedate pace, assuming that Donna will come along as well. "Yeah, and how many nice days have we known that have turned out to have an invasion? Whatever it is, I doubt it's just space junk."
no subject
At the Doctor's prompting, she looks at the birds, "Yeah, singing, but what's wrong with them?"
no subject
Donna and Andrew would notice that some of the sparrows are having a hard time landing and a few are crashing into things. "They're rubbish at flying some of them."
The fact it could end up being something more than just watching animals in the zoo. He zooms in and out of the crowds at the sound of the bleeping sonic in his hand.
no subject
He looked up at where the others were looking, seeing the clumsy birds for himself, and frowned. "And why are there so many of them?" he asked. "D'you think they've been drawn in by the signal?" If so, it had to be interfering with their little brains, too, to make them act like that. With a glance back at Märet an Donna to make sure they were still following (Märet was, having swallowed the ice cream in a few big mouthfuls when they all took off), he weaved through the crowd after the Doctor.
no subject
She was a bit distracted by the birds, but when Märet continued to move, she stayed in pace with him.
no subject
Now it's on to business of the birds that are acting strangely and he watches them. "There's more than there normally would be and it seems the closer we get the more there are." A bird finds itself smacking into him and he turns around to look at the creature that flew into him.
The bird is terrified and he leans down to pick it up before it's stepped on. He looks up to see in one part there's nothing but a sea of these little sparrows. "Blimey..." He goes to tug on his ears and he's not liking this. "And, here I was looking forward to a nice day at the zoo."
no subject
"This is very not good," he says, stating the rather obvious as he stares at the sea of sparrows. He turns and peers at the one the Doctor is holding. "Doesn't look hurt," he comments. "Terrified, though - maybe they're sensitive to whatever it is that drew them here."
no subject
She put her hand to her head, "Something's... I don't know... I feel weird."
no subject
"It's very bad. Well terrified in that a giant hand went to scoop it up yes but you're right, birds tends to be sensitive to change." The Doctor looks up at Donna and then there's worry on his face and he steps over to go see her. The Doctor frees the bird in the process and it's not like he can't take a look at any other wayward sparrows.
"Are you okay Donna?" The Doctor asks her and he reaches over with his hand for her. Then there's a strange feeling a very strange itchy feeling.
no subject
He gives a shudder as the feeling passes over him, too. Behind him, Märet jumps when he feels it as well, then suddenly starts backing away, shaking his head. "No, no," says the blond as he hits the end of his leash, Andrew turning to stare at him. "No!"
no subject
no subject
He grabs hold of his sonic and he goes to make an attempt to bleep her. The itching is becoming intense and he's going to begin itching at his skin. "No, no..." The Doctor wants to do what he can to help comfort Donna and he goes to try to bleep her.
Then Maret's words hit and he turns around to look at him, his sonic tumbling out of his hands and rolling down to the ground. "No, no? What's no no?"
no subject
"Märet!" Andrew realizes that something's wrong with both of them, from the way he can't stop shivering with the itchiness all over his body. The meta-meta panicking won't do anyone any good, though, especially since he suspects Märet may have guessed something about what's happening. To be fair, though, he could be simply having an episode in response to a frightening sensation. "Märet, calm down, what is it?"

The flying birds get his attention and he watches them with a pair of wide eyes that are not his own.
He begins to fidget and soon his world is nothing but darkness when he shrinks into his clothes. There's a screeching sound and movement from inside of the clothing mound on the ground. He eventually frees himself and there standing in The Doctor's place stands one unhappy Horned Owl.
meta-meta tag next, for icon's sake
Actually, Andrew has become a capybara. All he knows, though, is that he's suddenly very short, very round, and very much confused.
no subject
When it's done, he's left in darkness, squeaking in panic as he tries to find a way out of the fabric that's all around him.
