Mending the Rift

The universe was crumbling again. Once again at the source of it all was a crack...and once again, it wasn't a problem any one person could fix. Rose would have almost felt nostalgic, if it didn't mean they weren't all about to die again. Since the original shock wave, she'd been spending most of her time working with the metacrisis Doctor, trying to figure out just what happened, and what they could do to fix it.

As it was, their closest guesses still hadn't gotten far enough to fix anything by the time the Rift started to fracture. Fortunately, they weren't the only ones looking. Everyone was, including that strange blue suited Doctor who kept mostly to himself and never stopped looking for a way to fix the universes.

During the chaos, they both ran into each other and exchanged notes. Now that it's settled, they had a plan...but even with a Doctor, a Rose, a Metacrisis and two TARDISes between them, they still needed help.

Lacking a sub-wave network, they did the next best thing. They parked in Cardiff, and sent their own number a fax.

NEED YOUR HELP. HAVE FIX FOR SPLINTERING RIFT.

It wouldn't alert everyone, certainly, but any Doctors--or helpful people--it missed ought to spot the two TARDISes parked under the Rift enough to come and investigate on their own.

Rose got the message, and not to long after she, her metacrisis Alex, her humanoid TARDIS Tara got ready to head to the meeting place to help.

Faith was a long for the right with Rose, unsure about everything that was going on. She looked over at her "Yo, what's going on?" She knew a little about the rift, but not much at all.

Janie just wanted to get back home. She wanted to get back to the world that she knew, where everything worked properly, the weather was warm, and most of all, her family. She had a daughter in the fractured world, but wanted her to come home too.

This is why she eyed the rift, wondering if it was worth it to try driving her boat back through.

"Is there a convention?" she asked, casually, walking the perimeter of the TARDISes, looking for someone to answer her.

Now was probably the worst time to try any travel through the rift. It was unstable and likely only to get cataclysmal results. Of course, if she'd asked him, he would have said never to try. Playing with the rift was not ever an advisable thing.

He glanced up`at the unfamiliar voice, and blinked. "A...convention?

Handy didn't have the means to receive that fax, but he'd been keeping an eye on the Rift as best he could, and it didn't take him long to spot the arrival of the TARDISes. He came as soon as he could, the meta-meta with him but unleashed now, having proven some time ago that he was both trustworthy and intelligent enough not to wander off and cause trouble - at least, not too much trouble.

They stood outside one of the TARDISes, and Handy rapped sharply on the door. "Anyone in there?" he called. The problem of the Rift had been keeping him up nights, even when it wasn't causing the meta-meta terrible pain, and he hoped that whichever Doctor (or perhaps Rose) who was here would have more information on what, exactly, was happening.

The door jerked open after only a moment, and the resident metacrisis peered out at the other for a moment, before recognition clicked.

"Oh, you. Rose is in here. She'll be out in a minute."

Annnd then the door shut again.

The number, oddly enough, came across as a text on her mobile. Having had a few conversations with a Doctor or two about it, and no ideas for the solution, the prospect excited her to no end, and in seconds she was dressed out the door, slinging a bag over her shoulder and tucking her phone into a trouser pocket.

When she arrives, she'll find the two TARDISes, a Rose and her metacrisis...and the blue suited Doctor, engaged in some sort of discussion that apparently required a good deal of hand motions from the two Doctors.

Koschei arrived with Chris following not far behind, the Time Lord with his hands at his sides, and the metacrisis with his in the Time Lord's old leather jacket. With his own TARDIS, Koschei likely wouldn't have noticed; except that they'd been on their way back from a library, needing air, and found them, side by side by the Rift.

Curiosity and the hope that maybe something was happening had been the reasoning behind their change of course.

Something did seem to be happening, as there were at least two Doctors and a Rose gathered in front of the two TARDISes at the rift, and already a few others ringing about, though if there were anything happening, it hadn't happened yet.

The Doctor has gathered some help in forms of his TARDIS. He goes to get a message across to the others. "I'm here, I suspect you might want a little support to keep tabs here with the Rift. Anyway, I'm going to need a few good hands here to do it. I hope that Jack will lend his team out to the people here if they do need it."

Jack leaves the navy blue TARDIS with a kiss to Alisa and she's left with Gwen and whoever is not assigned to join The Doctor in his TARDIS. He turns around to head over to join the convention with Owen at his side along with the two Meta-Crisis.

He prefers the wiry doctor on missions like these and he knows Owen's value on the field on dangerous missions. "Triage, Owen, you'll have plenty of people coming along so we need your skills."

He comes to stand along side the two TARDIS and he goes to pick one of the doors to give a knock. "I heard you're looking for one impossible man and one ornery doctor."

It was his plan, so he ought to be the one to explain it.

He clapped his hands, glancing over the gathered people. "Right. So we'll need three groups for this--well two groups. Well, I say groups...but one's not really a group, is it, just staying here..." He waved a hand dismissively, catching himself before he could start rambling too much. "Right now, the walls of this universe are strained tissue-thin. The rift is a seam, a tear in the walls of this universe ripping further under the stress of the...other. if we could seal that seam properly, we'd double the time this universe has before the walls tear through. We can't do that. We can relieve the pressure on it. And we need to. Because if we don't, we've got a very, very short time."

Right, he was terrible at speeches, really he was. He didn't like giving them at all, but there wasn't time to explain on a one-on-one basis, and he couldn't do it all himself. Not even with this other Rose's help.

...But Rose spoke up before he could continue.

She edges her way around the group and over to his side, listening with intent determinism that she only develops in times like these. The situation sound grim, and the second he finished speaking, she leaned over toward him.

"I'm goin' with you."

The Rift speech, the thing that's left everyone picking at their brains to figure out how to mend or at least leave the world feeling a lot less pear shaped in the end. The Eleven-Meta is standing there at his side.

"Of course, I'll be the one staying behind during all of this here." The Doctor seems a little disappointed but he's got an important role to play. He's got an entire area filled with TARDIS to keep an eye out on not to mention the Earth itself.

It's an important and if not unappreciated job. "Dr. Sato and Mr. Jones will be staying here with me I believe. I'm still going to need a bit more than just those two." He licks the root of his mouth. There's a chance for trouble and we've seen that already. There's going to be more than just Weevils that crawl from out of the sewers."

He skipped up the ramp to the console and started flipping switches. They were on a timer, after all. A considerably generous one that would leave plenty of time for talking if things went perfectly well...but when did they ever?

He glanced up at the door and grinned. "Ready?"
