Who Opened My Gift?!

When: Masters Wardrobe Plot
Who: Owen Harper [livejournal.com profile] wanker4life/OTA
Where: The Manor - The Box (Farlorne)

What:

Owen was going to sneak out of Jack's TARDIS to take a walk around the house to take a look at some of the gifts. The box in particular had drawn Owen's attention at the reception and still there was something more to it. And the fact it's wide open gets Owen's attention, he's dressed for a bit of time outside with his leather coat, jeans and of course a t-shirt to add for color weather wear.

The snow in the living room was a give away that there's something strange but Owen managed to slip on one of Robbie's toys and into the box he tumbled face first into the snow. He's far from happy looking, for starters to be met with a face full of snow and the second is the fact Robbie had a toy in the middle of the floor.

The Doctor listens to Liz and he just gives her his coat. "There. But still you can cover up an exposed bottom when there's strangers here."

"He's Canadian not an alien from another planet." The Doctor defends poor Fraser and he still continues to ignore the grumbling in the distance and the howling that follows. "We can exchange long stories while on the run. I suggest that we start moving and hope that we can find even more answers on the way."

He pauses. "That and my TARDIS."

She rolls her eyes at Owen. "You want to make a fire here, now, so whatever's making all that noise can find us?" Liz points out before she presses her very warm hands against Owen's face. "You get too cold, just hug me. I'll take care of it." She's not about to go into more detail even though yelling the fact she's a firestarter probably clued the new guy in that she's not a normal girl.

Liz takes the coat from the Doctor and wraps herself up. It's long and she's short so it's like a messed up patchwork dress. "Where the hell did you even get this thing?" She grumbles to the Doctor before looking at Fraser. "Hey." Liz nods a greeting to him and then looks at the wolf dog before the Doctor points out where Fraser must be from.

"Yeah, the whole Royal Canadian Mounted Police bit kinda filled that part in, Doc." She's in the snow, in an ugly coat, knocked up and supposed to be on a nice honeymoon soon but nooooooo. Liz is at her snarktastic best, or should that be worst? "Anybody bring a gun?" Liz asks casually as she links her arm through Owen's to try and keep him warm. "Or know which way we should go?"

Fraser actually didn't think much of the statements Liz made. He had simply thought she meant making a fire in the standard gathering tinder and such way. As for the hugging, he had staved off the cold more than once by sharing body heat with another. It was strange that none were concerned about her state of dress, but it wasn't like he had taken time to examine what she had been wearing. Just noticed it was somewhat... lacking and promptly stopped looking as would any gentleman.

He glanced back when she said hey and noticed she was now more properly attired and turned around to look at them. It was a strange group. He tipped his hat. "Hello." He looked around the forest at her question. "Well, as a matter of fact, I am currently carrying my standard issue sidearm." Though he really wished he had a rifle right now. "Unfortunately I am not familiar with this area." He looked embarrassed. "I can't recognize any landmarks from the area I had been in. I was actually rather hoping that your group might have some idea." But he wasn't one to just give up. "However I am quite familiar with celestial navigation so we just need wait until we can get a good look of the stars and I can decipher a likely location and direction from that." He still had no idea that he wasn't on Earth.

"I wouldn't mind those two who are arguing like a couple," The Doctor says, to Fraser as he goes to take control of the situation. He looks at Liz and Owen for a bit before he simply sighs. The Doctor seems a little frustrated with his two new human friends.

"Hello again, but really why must everyone be so quick to jump the gun, I'm sure if we start moving we won't have to worry about resorting to violence." The Doctor says, with a frustrated tone at everyone. "Yes."

Of course they're on another world completely so the stars and where they are is likely different. There's more than one moon in the sky and its going to make things a bit more interesting for Fraser. "Lead on then my good man."

[identity profile] open-flame.livejournal.com 2012-02-16 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
In Liz's defense when she called herself a firestarter she had no idea Benton was in hearing distance, and she doesn't give a crap if the Doctor knows or not. "You really wanna have a snark fest in the middle of the stupid forest?" Liz counters before she tugs on Owen's arm in a 'let's get moving' sort of gesture.

She raises a brow as the Mountie speaks, then frowns. "Shit." She mutters under her breath, realizing this guy is a hell of a lot more lost than he realizes he is. That is never, ever easy. "I donno if we have time to wait, Constable."

Liz cast a worried look over to Benton then to the Doctor. "Maybe we should see if our Doctor friend has anything that can help us...I donno...scan things." She shoots him a pointed look, having no idea the Time Lord wouldn't have that trusty sonic screwdriver thingy on him.

"Well, I left my gun in my pants, and my pants at home." Liz says curtly. She lets Owen go on about the protecting her thing. She's supposed to be a normal, pantless girl and not a walking napalm strike. "Thank you, dear." She smiles at Owen, though it looks a bit like she humoring him.

[identity profile] rcmp-fraser.livejournal.com 2012-02-16 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
Benton nodded. "I'm sure a brisk walk would be helpful for everyone." Both in keeping warm and keeping safe. He started moving when the cloudy sky cleared up a bit. He looked up almost immediately at the change in light hoping to catch sight of some stars he would recognize. And promptly stopped walking again. He blinked. "Oh dear." Fraser didn't really swear. He blinked again. If the fact that all of the stars were strange didn't hit home, the multiple moons more than said he wasn't on Earth. "Well that explains your question about planets then." He commented while his mind tried to work around this issue.

He frowned. "I don't think I will be able to make any educated guesses about the correct direction to go. So unless anyone here is more familiar with this... region, one direction is as good as any." He felt better saying region instead of planet. "I just wish I knew if any of those stars were fixed points." So that they could be certain they were walking straight in one direction. He shrugged. "We might as well make the best of it." He decided with his eternal optimism. Now wasn't the time to freak out about this. This was a dangerous environment temperature wise. Who knew how dangerous it was due to the indigenous life forms?

[identity profile] technicolorcan.livejournal.com 2012-02-16 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
The Doctor looks at Liz when she mentions a scanner and he points to his pocket. "Check my pockets." She won't find his sonic screwdriver in there but there's a 'scanner' that looks like it was put together with an erector set, string and a few sticks of gum. "Its not much bit it works."

He holds his finger up in the air and he ums. "I'm familiar with this type of thing." The Doctor doesn't go to point out that he's the 'alien' among humans. "Well we're all alien here. Mmmm, lets see where are we? If I had my TARDIS this would be a lot easier to figure out. My guess is we're somewhere in the Proxima system."

The Doctor shudders and there's the sound of the wolves getting closer, they're in sight as they come up at the edge of the forest. There's four of them and there's the sound of chattering coming up behind them.

They're a tall and ugly bunch of trolls that don't look too happy about intruders.

[identity profile] masterswardrobe.livejournal.com 2012-02-16 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
The wolves continue to get closer to the intruders and the six trolls follow with their allies.

The wolves are smarter than your average wolf and they wait for the word from the troll commander.

The Doctor and friends still have a lead on them, the trolls snicker. "I hope they have riches that we can steal and meaty bones." They're wearing armor that resembles the plates of a spaceship's that may of crashed here before. "The last bunch was too stringy!"

[identity profile] open-flame.livejournal.com 2012-02-19 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Liz rolls her eyes. Here she is trying to make sure the constable doesn't freak out he got sucked though a rift and the Doctor's being...the Doctor. "You are about as discreet as a bull in a freakin' china shop, you know that?" She takes the make shift tool from the Doctor and scowls at it. That was not what she was hoping for. "Not helpful." She hands it back to him.

She closes her eyes and ignores the wolves before shooting Owen one of those glances they've perfected after all this time. "If thing need to get...hot." She says all too casually to him. "You get them out of here. Doctor, too. He seems...even more reckless than the one we know."

Then the new voices make her drop Owen's hand. "Shit." She turns back to look at the newest pursuers. "Trolls. Seriously. It had to be trolls." She sighs and steps a little closer to the bunch that wants to make a meal of them.

"Go. Now." Liz says firmly, paying specific attention to Fraser. "I got this. We'll explain later. Just run."

[identity profile] rcmp-fraser.livejournal.com 2012-02-21 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Fraser wondered if this was how Ray felt sometimes around him. Either of them. He was completely out of his depth and knew it. This Doctor fellow was rattling off words as facts and seemed pretty confident, so Benton just would have to think he did know what he was doing until facts showed otherwise.

He heard Owen comment about trolls. "Now, just because we are on a strange world with strange people there is no need to be rude." And then he saw the creatures coming after them. "Unless it is a fairly accurate description." He added weakly. He frowned. "I wonder if they follow old myths about a weakness to fire or inability to move in sunlight." He clung to the bits of things he knew from his wide variety of studies. When you had little to do but read and the grandparents you lived with were librarians you picked up all sorts of things.

He looked at Liz. "You can't mean for us to just abandon you. Surely we stand better together. And have we abandoned the option of attempting to speak with them first? They might not be a danger." His instincts said splitting up in a strange environment was not a good thing to do.

[identity profile] captainspain.livejournal.com 2012-02-22 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
The sound of feet running through the snow grows louder and the Harkness known as Sad Jack comes crashing through the woods gun held out in front of him. He fires off a shot at one of the wolves hoping to hell he manages to hit it.

"I can't leave you guys alone for five seconds," he says glancing around at the motley group. "Liz what the hell are you wearing it looks like a clown threw up all over you."

His eye then falls on the one person he doesn't know, a handsome man no less and he grins. "And you picked up a stray to boot nice." He offers his hand.

"Captain Jack Harkness....and you are?"

[identity profile] technicolorcan.livejournal.com 2012-02-26 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm being open and honest with our new friend here." The Doctor looks off in the direction the wolves and trolls are coming in from with a hard look on his face. "Go now? You've got to be out of your mind!" The Doctor looks at Liz and he doesn't know much about her ability to burn things to a crisp.

He still isn't going to leave anyone behind and its Fraser that he's worried about, the others seem to be familiar with being on another planet. He'll ask questions later and he turns around to hear the new voices. "Flirting? Why are you flirting when we're about to face almost certain death." The Doctor seems put off by everything and he points in the direction the wolves and trolls aren't in.

"I'd say we regroup somewhere else first."

[identity profile] masterswardrobe.livejournal.com 2012-02-26 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
One of the wolves is shot and there's a loud yelp. The strange source of magic is enough to spook the trolls and the leader is made of thicker skin than the rest.

He hefts his big sword up in the air and he yells. "CHARGE!" The trolls are quick to fall in line and so do the wolves as they begin to rush towards the lost travelers.

There's another grumble coming from the sky and it seems that it's not just the trolls that are here for the people in the box.

[identity profile] open-flame.livejournal.com 2012-02-29 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
At least one of those guys has a brain in his head. Liz nods to Owen in thanks, he's always good at taking her more subtle hint.

She'd rather not out herself in front of Fraser, but when she hers the Trolls charge she's got no choice. If she doesn't make the fire come out, it'll do it on its own to protect her.

Liz's head jerks up at the sound. She lets her entire body cover in blue fire, complaining all the while. "I'm gonna have to burn down this whole damn forest, aren't I?"

Let's hope those trolls and wolves aren't fireproof.

Fraser blinked then politeness demanded he answer the odd man who came out of no where, wearing what looked like an old World War II RAF long coat. “Constable Benton Fraser of the RCMP.” He replied with a slight tilt of his head. It was obvious that this Captain Jack Harkness and most of the rest of the people he had found were well acquainted with each other. They also seemed far more comfortable with this sort of situation than he was himself.

That in itself had him half doubting his earlier decision that he should object to their plan. Even if it left what seemed like a defenseless, barely dressed woman behind. One who was seeming oddly unchilled. His mind was pushing around that conundrum around in his mind as he pulled out his gun when the trolls, and his mind skipped on that idea for a second… trolls, really?.. as the trolls ordered the charge. Diefenbaker stayed at his side growling, but seeming oddly reluctant to charge ahead. And then several questions were answered as Liz went on fire. “Oh, dear.” He whispered. It actually had him pause in shock and surprise

[identity profile] captainspain.livejournal.com 2012-03-02 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Jack quickly takes stock of the situation and realizes that other then Liz, he is the only one who is anywhere near fireproof. Granted the Doctor would regenerate but Jack wasn't about to let him, fashion sense non withstanding.

"Nice to meet you," he says to Benton, "I'd shake your hand but we are in a bit of trouble, and anyone who isn't burn proof should be moving.....possibly like NOW,"

He stands between Benton and Liz just in case. "Oh I hope this doesn't hurt much....I'm not in the mood."

[identity profile] masterswardrobe.livejournal.com 2012-03-02 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
The wolves are anything but fire proof and the trolls aren't exactly fire proof either when Liz goes to let them have it. The trolls up front along with the charging wolves are burnt to an unpleasant crisp.

Its the grumble from above that has the best luck as a wall of fire pours down from above on the remaining trolls and wolves. There as clear as day is a massive golden dragon.

With the threat gone for now the dragon goes to settle himself down on the ground. "I see there is more of you here." The dragon speaks and it begins to stalk towards the party of humans and the Time Lord in question.

[identity profile] technicolorcan.livejournal.com 2012-03-02 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
The Doctor was good at taking advise at times and this was one of them and he looks over his shoulder to see Liz who's torching the trolls. He goes to grab hold of Brenton. "Come on!" He looks at Jack and he can sense something is off with this one. "Right, there's no time for introductions. Let's go before we.."

He looks to see the trolls defeated by the attack from Liz and then there's the assault from above thanks from the dragon. "And it seems we've had a little intervention from one of the locals." He looks around for a bit. "Hello!" The Doctor's knowledge of creatures of other worlds being friendly more than hostile can sometimes be a problem. "And, I should say, thank you also for the help... "

[identity profile] open-flame.livejournal.com 2012-03-02 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Would you just RUN already!" Liz has half a mind to lob a fireball at Jack's head to get him to move his ass. Fucking Harkness...every one of them. Stupid human shield shit.

She manages not to explode, but fine control of the fire is just as exhausting to her. She's let so much energy lose it takes her a moment to realize she's not the only one torching the bad guys.

Liz falls to her knees after she calls her fire back inside her and looks upward. After a quick glance around to make sure everyone who's not immortal is still standing, Liz lets out a very harsh laugh and looks up again at the massive dragon. She can't help thinking she kind of misses Weevils and aliens over this supernatural mythical stuff."You take it from here." She says before flopping unceremoniously into the snow. It's not exactly ladylike but at least it cools her body down enough someone could touch her.

She's not passed out yet, but she's close.

[identity profile] rcmp-fraser.livejournal.com 2012-03-14 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Benton’s eyes widened as he correctly inferred from that statement of Jack’s that this fire woman might not exactly be able to control where her flame went. He was about to warn Diefenbaker only to see the wolf was already on the run away from the woman. And then the Doctor grabbed hold of him even as he was starting to follow his furry friend. He half turned around to see what happened when the Doctor stopped. Fraser still kept moving a few extra steps. Then he saw… was that a dragon. Diefenbaker whined, perhaps wondering why his human was stupid enough to stick around things that flung around fire like that. For his part Benton was seriously considering the possibility he was poisoned with some sort of hallucinogenic food or drug. Because that was more reasonable an explanation that what was really happening.

[identity profile] captainspain.livejournal.com 2012-03-14 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Jack keeps close to Benton's side unsure who the man was or what he could do. "I'd say something about being on fire but it would get my slapped later," he says staring at the dragon.

Finally he approaches the beast and calmly asks. "Who are you and why did you just help us."

Suicidal bravery thy name is Jack Harkness.
