That's not gonna fit...

When: The week before Xmas
Where: California
Who: [livejournal.com profile] lizfirestarter ,[livejournal.com profile] wanker4life, [livejournal.com profile] robbie_harper

"You do realize our house has a roof don't you, Owen?" Liz looked up at the tree that she was sure wouldn't fit in their new living room unless you chopped a few feet off it. How they'd get that damn thing home she had no idea. She looked from the tree to Owen to Robbie and back before she sighed. "I know it's his first Christmas and all but do we really need a tree that big?" It felt somehow wrong having a big evergreen tree when they didn't even have snow.

Owen looks at Liz and he's got something in mind for the house. "It's going to fit the new house just fine." Owen was thinking of putting the tree outside of their new house.

The time spent on bodies was also spent on getting things moved out of there ASAP as was the tree hunt. "Its not only his first Christmas but we can make this one extra special."

It did feel weird to wear nothing but a light leather jacket in December and he's not freezing his ass off.

Owen's not sure how he's going to explain it all to Liz and he bites on his lip. "It'll look smashing outside by the pool. We can put a wee tree inside the house and a big one outside." He wonders what people in California do with trees. He saw palm trees lit up and looking all Christmasy. "We can decorate our palm trees with lights."

He's trying to sway her away from their proper home the home that's not a rental that they've been living in.

"I still think this tree will fit just fine. And Robbie is agreeing with this idea."

"We have plenty of room by the pool." Owen has made use of the pool on those nights he spent at the HUB slaving over a dead body with a bottle of beer. It was nice to look out over the city and think back to what's going on.

He's worried about whatever happened to Jack and this is a good way to get everything off of his mind.

"We can have them load it up onto a truck and they'll deliver it for us." Owen takes Robbie and he looks at the little guy who's still trying to grab for the tree. "You don't want to eat that mate."

"Trust me Liz. You should join me outside a bit more and I know how you love the chance to bundle up at night." Owen goes to wrap his arm around her and he stands there looking at the tree. He likes it. He's now has his home for his family ready and he leans over to kiss Liz on the cheek.

He pulls back and he looks at her with an odd look. "That's alright, we'll end up sticking together like a pair of saps on a cartoon." He teases, and he goes to take Robbie when he's held out to him. Owen's going to let Robbie touch the tree and fill the baby's need to full fill his curiosity.

"That sounds like a great idea. First, I want to get home.. I'm exhausted." Owen's trying to sway her to head home first. "We can get the bulbs later and decorate on Christmas Eve. We need to start our own family traditions."

"There's nothing wrong with the outside by the water. There's plenty of parts outside that aren't near the water in the house." Owen's making sure to avoid saying old house and he treats it as normal. "We've got that fire pit and we can roast marshmallows and let Robbie play outside."

He blushes a bit and its Owen who seems more comfortable with the idea of being a parent than Ianto or Jack. "I'm not gonna end up some creepy parent who won't let a grown kid off a leash."

"Yeah, let's go home.." He leans back over to kiss her cheek and he's excited to get home.
