That's not gonna fit...
When: The week before Xmas
Where: California
Who:
lizfirestarter ,
wanker4life,
robbie_harper
"You do realize our house has a roof don't you, Owen?" Liz looked up at the tree that she was sure wouldn't fit in their new living room unless you chopped a few feet off it. How they'd get that damn thing home she had no idea. She looked from the tree to Owen to Robbie and back before she sighed. "I know it's his first Christmas and all but do we really need a tree that big?" It felt somehow wrong having a big evergreen tree when they didn't even have snow.

The time spent on bodies was also spent on getting things moved out of there ASAP as was the tree hunt. "Its not only his first Christmas but we can make this one extra special."
It did feel weird to wear nothing but a light leather jacket in December and he's not freezing his ass off.

He's trying to sway her away from their proper home the home that's not a rental that they've been living in.
"I still think this tree will fit just fine. And Robbie is agreeing with this idea."

Liz doesn't even notice Robbie reaching out to the tree like it's the greatest thing on the planet until Owen says something. She looks down at the little reaching hands and shakes her head. "Fine, I know when I'm beat." She says dryly as she goes to offer Robbie to his dad. "How we gonna get this thing home?"

He's worried about whatever happened to Jack and this is a good way to get everything off of his mind.
"We can have them load it up onto a truck and they'll deliver it for us." Owen takes Robbie and he looks at the little guy who's still trying to grab for the tree. "You don't want to eat that mate."

She wrinkles her nose at the idea of someone else delivering a tree. "We don't even get to cut it down here." Liz says sadly as Robbie tries to reach out for a branch. She sighs and practically shoves Robbie at Owen. "Here. You take him. He listens to you." Something Ianto said to her before makes her snicker as she shakes her head. "You two think alike. Like father like son and I guess you both think we need to make every other family on the block have tree envy."
Liz looks up at the tree again and then back at Owen and the baby. She can't say no, not when they both want it. "Fine. Let's get Treezilla home and buy a million foot tall ladder and a truckload of bulbs so we can decorate it."

He pulls back and he looks at her with an odd look. "That's alright, we'll end up sticking together like a pair of saps on a cartoon." He teases, and he goes to take Robbie when he's held out to him. Owen's going to let Robbie touch the tree and fill the baby's need to full fill his curiosity.
"That sounds like a great idea. First, I want to get home.. I'm exhausted." Owen's trying to sway her to head home first. "We can get the bulbs later and decorate on Christmas Eve. We need to start our own family traditions."

Liz can't help beaming at the both of them. Sometimes it's like Owen's a completely different man around Robbie. Better, and Liz never thought that was even possible. "Just don't end up creepy when he's too old for you to be best pals, OK. Come to think of it, don't let me end up creepy either."
She frowns when Owen mentioned he's exhausted. "You work too much." Liz says simply as she leans up to kiss him gently. "You want to go home we'll go home." The mention of traditions nearly makes her blush. "I like that. I really like that."

He blushes a bit and its Owen who seems more comfortable with the idea of being a parent than Ianto or Jack. "I'm not gonna end up some creepy parent who won't let a grown kid off a leash."
"Yeah, let's go home.." He leans back over to kiss her cheek and he's excited to get home.
