Looking for Her
When: The Beast Below Plot
Who: Jack Harkness
cjharknesstw/OTA
Where: Starship UK
What:
The moment Gwen's back was turned Jack left the TARDIS to begin looking for Alisa. He felt terrible that she went missing and it's his responsibility to find her. His first stop was in the women's room where she put up a fight and he began to look for signs of any cameras in the walls.
He didn't see her come out and there was no screams from someone who put up one hell of a fight. There were no signs of Alisa other than her purse, the blue water and the man in the booth smiling at him.
Jack eventually left the bathroom to continue on his search with her clutch held tight in his hand. He started to ask people questions and with a picture shown to them he got no answers. It was frustrating and Jack eventually found himself up on one of the roof of the taller buildings. He glanced down at the grounds of the starship below him and he glances at his coat, if this was on the surface of Earth the winds would of gave it a nice billowy effect but the air shield on the starship doesn't give much in the way of weather at the Surrey building.

River had wandered the ship, trying to get information without looking like she was getting information. She could just tell that this place was one where nobody got involved. The few that she did speak to didn't know anything and didn't even want to give their name. That never was a good start.
River stopped her walking and leaned against one of the taller buildings. Her brow furrowed and she needed a moment to think. She didn't like how this place felt. A part of her wanted to go back to the TARDIS and just be safe there. Then there was the adventurer inside of her. She liked being dangerous. It was the hippie archaeologist inside of her. Still, she hated being stumped.
"What is up with this place," she muttered. She gazed up at the top of the buildings, wishing she could find some sort of sign.

Jack was standing at the ledge of the building, it would be terrible if John were to show up and push him off this one. It stood much taller than the ones in Cardiff and it would leave him with more than a bad back. He survey's the people down there and perhaps he could find someone or some clue that would lead him to his missing friends.
"I just need something to get the two of you back." Jack muses, to himself and he looks up to see the stars up above him. Jack's been through places like this one before during his day's in the Agency. He recalls a visit to this ship before but never did he question it's workings. That wasn't until he came across The Doctor and he became a changed man.

"Stop!" River came up behind Jack, her hands held out in front of her. Her eyes widened when she saw who was standing on the ledge. Slowly, she lowered her hands down by her side. "Well, I didn't expect to see you here. You're not going to jump, are you Captain?"
She doesn't know him well. In truth, she barely knows him at all, but his reputation did precede him. Tilting her head to the side, she wondered why he was her at all and not in the TARDIS. Did he have the missing information she didn't?

He was just going to settle in with his thoughts and he turns himself around when he hears the voice. Jack's seen River in passing but he never introduced himself. Jack holds his hands up above his head and he slowly turns around. "I'm not going to jump. And, I would kindly appreciate if you don't push me off. I would hate to leave a big grease spot on the ground when I'd hit it."
Jack's information was incomplete, his interest is not in the ship itself but the missing peoples that he can't find among the population.

"Hello Captain. We haven't had the chance to be introduced yet." She turns back to him and offers her hand. "Dr. River Song." As she reaches to him, her sleeve inches up her arm, showing a glimpse of the manipulator on her arm. Oh yes, she has one too.
"Well, you see someone standing on a rooftop. Think about it, Captain? What am I to think?" She grinned up at him . "Some worry does come into play."

When she uses his 'title' in the way The Doctor does, he turns himself around on the heals of his boots with his coat twirling around with him as he does so. "Captain Jack Harkness. I don't believe the two of us have met." Jack offers out a hand, if things were a bit different he would of taken this time to flirt with her a little bit. The Vortex Manipulator catches his attention and he'll ask questions a bit later. "You didn't happen to see one woman with a bronze or tan complexion, black hair pulled back in a pony tail, white top and skirt, exceptionally pregnant and very missing have you?"
Jack tries to see if maybe she can give him an answer but he doesn't expect one. "Why don't we head back down to the surface to check things out?"
no subject
She thinks about what Jack said, trying to picture the woman in her mind. "No, I haven't. Sounds like one that would stand out. I haven't seen much of anything. The people I have seen don't want to talk or help at all." She sighed and turned to face Jack once they were below. "It's like nobody wants to get involved. Some of them seemed too frightened to. Others just couldn't be bothered."
no subject
Jack goes to walk over towards the lift. "It was a bit one-sided. I moved on since we've met."
"This is that big push into the stars. I'm sure there's a black market here on this ship, but with how things feel to be ran here? I highly doubt that." Jack pushes the button for the lift and he motions for River to follow him and he gives her a nod of his head. He places his hand on the door frame. "You're right. It's the feel of a police state. People know there's something wrong but there's something that is keeping them from speaking up or they're completely ignorant to the world around them."
no subject
"This ship isn't running right either. I can't find any engines. There's no hum, no heartbeat." River bites her bottom lip, tugging on it lightly as she thinks. "I don't like how it feels here, Captain. It's not a very nice place. If I wanted to feel like this, I'd go back to prison."
It's a small quip, but still she raises an eyebrow at Jack. She shouldn't have said it. She wonders briefly how he'll react.
no subject
He takes his hand from his pocket and he holds it up to River with a hush. The head of the Smiler still looking at them and Jack wants to see something for a moment. "Quiet..." The head begins to turn slowly to show an frowning face in front of the two and the lift begins to descend.
He noticed the Vortex Manipulator on River's arm and he had programmed his to the coordinates leading back to the market. "Got a teleport feature on yours?" Jack leans over and he asks her in a whisper. Jack's got a feeling the two are going to be met with a less than charming welcome. "Hey there big guy. I'm not sure what's got you down." Jack willingly flirts with the booth and he lifts his other hand from his pocket.
He'll ask River about prison later and the lift begins to accelerate rapidly. "Oh, forget it!"
no subject
Her eyes turn back to the now frowning creature and her smile fades. Slowly, she takes a step closer to Jack. She does not like where this is going. Whatever that creature was, it was giving her a bad feeling. "Yes," she whispered softly to Jack. She has the feature, but hadn't programmed it yet for this ship. Foolish really, she thinks and she chastises herself for it. When he flirts with it, she can't help but roll her eyes. At least it's a tactic more to her own and less like the Doctor. He never really was big on flirting.
"Captain, what's happening?!"
no subject
The creature or whatever it is that is now frowning and then there's the angry face when the elevator picks up speed. Jack holds his arm out. "I don't know. Just put your hand on my wrist and we're leaving." The numbers continue to drop quickly and if the two aren't fast they're going to end up with the rest of them in the belly of the whale.
"I don't exactly know. Like Ianto told me it's a --..." The Vortex Manipulator kicks to life and the two are teleported from the lift and back to the market. This isn't what Jack wanted and he catches his breath. It's been sometime since he's had to use these features of his manipulator. "Police state. There's someone out there watching us."
no subject
Her eyes widen and she grabs Jack's arm hard. Her fingers are digging into his coat and she's hanging on for dear life, pulling up the sleeve of her blouse so he has access to her manipulator as well. "I'm always up for a jaunt," she tried to tease.
Back in the market, River lets go of his arm and shakes a little. Reaching up, one of her hands checks her hair while the other tries to steady herself. She rather loved hopping, even if it did disorient a little. "I get the same feeling," she said softly. Her eyes narrow and she looks around them, sizing up the area. "I hate to think it, but... What if those creatures took your pregnant friend?"
no subject
It's a fast ride, a very fast ride and his face strains on the G-Forces of the drop. The elevator hits zero and the floor opens up...
Just in time as the two vanish from sight.
The market, it's nice to see it and Jack places his hand on his back. "Oooh, they never improved the ride on these have they? I'm getting a bit spoiled." Jack looks at the booths with a bit of worry on his face. "I have a feeling you maybe right. She's not only my best friend but she's my wife."
no subject
"The best way is to find out if there are some cameras. A place this big, with them around, someone is watching." She frowns and does a quick sweep with her sonic screwdriver.
"Wife, hmm?" She focuses on the task, only briefly glancing up at him. "I am sorry to hear that. How long have you been together? And you said she was pregnant too, yes?" She bites her lip, not wanting to think about what might have happened to her.
"I am sure she's fine and waiting to be rescued." She wasn't sure even she believed it, but it had to be said. And it didn't hurt to hear it herself.
no subject
He begins heading over towards the booth and his eyes focus back on River. "It depends on time. In linear time, it hasn't been a year.." Jack continues his walk over towards the booth. The Smiler frowns, the fact Jack isn't about to back down there's a very unhappy face followed by the Smiler exiting the booth.
"Well, I get to be the nervous knight in shinning armor then." Jack reaches into his holster for his glock. Oh, to hell if the Grinders come out for him.
no subject
"That is the joy of our lives, isn't it? Time. Wibbly wobbly." She stepped forward, so that she was standing beside him. Her gaze turned over to the Smiler and she looks more excited than afraid. "A year passing in a day. A minute passing in a month. Our adventures are never dull. Maybe soon we'll all go on a jaunt."
"Notice how clean it is, Captain? I mean, look around this market. Everything is a mess, very dirty, except that. Nobody has even approached it. Not a speck. Not a fingerprint." River shook her head. "I don't like it."
River removed her blaster from its holder and holds it up for him to inspect. "Now now, Captain. Don't steal all the fun. I never was one to be the damsel."
no subject
He laughs at the Wibbly thing, he looks at the Smiler that approaches them and he brings his arm up with the gun. "I think that's what The Doctor has in mind. It seems like years have gone by. Oh, I think we're about to have another one. It's almost non-stop with all things considered.
"I noticed, I noticed nobody would dare to go near them. The standard starship mess doesn't apply to this lot." Jack watches the Smiler approach them and he places his under hand under the other that's grasping the gun to give him support.
The Smiler continues to advance towards them. "Oh, no then I'm going to say ladies first."
no subject
Suddenly, there was a flash, as well as a loud bang in front of them. The Smilers took a few of the shots and slid down to the floor. River almost looked put out as she turned to Jack. "I have the feeling that won't keep them down. I'd say you can have the next go."
River motioned down to her sonic screwdriver. "I never break my promises." She looked around the market, then back to Jack. "Where is everyone? There should be some people here, like earlier, but it's a ghost town now. Why?"
no subject
Jack covers her back and he fires his gun, an antique by River's standards but he manages to knock them down but the Smilers just get back up again. "Okay, androids. I hate androids especially those that are very good at self repairing themselves."
The TARDIS is there and it is disturbing that the market is now empty, Jack looks back at the Smilers that are coming back to life. "You don't have anything that's a bit more explosive tucked away do you?"
There's men in black cloaks that are slowly approaching the two troublemakers and like the Smilers they have the very angry face. The path to the TARDIS is blocked off. Jack smiles a bit and these guys might know where Alisa and Liz are. "I take we're under arrest madame River. I say we play nice and let them take us with them."
The one man with a human face looks to the others. "Take them to the tower."
no subject
River smiled as she aimed, shooting back to back with the Captain. It was different, being with someone who actually liked guns. River took a few shots, watching them go down. “They won’t be down long.” “Androids really do bother me. Not only are they not pretty, but they’re not very talkative either. Not a turn on to me.” She really liked someone like the Doctor, someone who could speak. And at length.
River shook her head. “No, I don’t. Though this should be working on them.” Her smirk turned to a frown and she took a few more shots. Suddenly, there were men in cloaks coming closer to her. And she didn’t like that even more. “They took my explosives at the prison. Don’t ask.” Oh, another story for another day she thought to herself.
River wasn’t sure she wanted to be taken . Jack was right, it was the best option, but that didn’t mean she had to like it. She preferred to poke around on her own and not have a chaperone. “I hate to say it,” she hissed to Jack. “If we do, we might find your wife and our Doctor.” At the very least, she was hoping she’d get some sort of answers.
And then the man spoke. Her eyes widened and she stared up at Jack. The Tower? Oh, this was not going to be a good thing. “Okay. Don’t shoot. Let them take us, but if they try to take my sonic then I promise nothing.”
