Who: Gwen and Jack [livejournal.com profile] redtrainers and [livejournal.com profile] nonmoritur
When: Daytime, trying to heal after being in the doghouse. Gallifrey plot.
What: Gwen and Jack healing and trying to be normal again.

Gwen: It had been a while since they actually had fought. Gwen wasn't sure how long it had been, but it had been long enough that it was bothering her. They were still in the same house, but it just felt so empty. They rarely talked. Jack was still mad, she was sure of it. He was great with Anwen, but just seemed a little distant with her. And she didn't know what to do about it. It didn't help she was big as a house and ready to pop soon. Standing in the kitchen, Gwen was making a breakfast feast for the three of them. Eggs, tomato, bacon, sausage, toast, you name it and she was making it.

Jack: Jack had long been over being mad, but he still wasn't ready to talk about it. The idea of it really still made him sore. And thankfully he wasn't alone because NY was quite cross with Alisa as well. Thankfully. He was beginning to think that he was losing his mind in being angry about somethign this small. He made his way downstairs with Anwen on his hip, the baby talking up a storm. "Oh is that so?" he said to her, smiling a bit and moved into the kitchen. "Hello."

Gwen: "Hello." Gwen smiled and moved over, giving Anwen a kiss on the cheek. "I wasn't sure what you would want, so I just made everything." The table was set and the radio was playing soft music in the background. Gwen's hair was tied up with little tendrils loose around her face. Her sleeves were rolled up and there were some stains on her sweatpants. "Someone seems to be cheerful this morning. How is she?" Turning, Gwen went back to cooking. She bit her lips. She still wanted to say something, but part of her wondered if it was better to say nothing. The advice she was given still echoed in her ears.

Jack: "Oh, good, we're starving," he said and looked at her, moving over to kiss Gwen on the cheek, letting it linger before moving over to put Anwen in her high chair. "She seems fine. We're going to go to the park after breakfast and wear her out for lunch. Yes we are." He moved to get himself some coffee and leaned against the counter next to the stove, watching her cook.

Gwen: Her eyes closed at the kiss and she enjoyed it for as long as she could. "Sounds fun." She looked up at him. "Make sure that you grab some of the sunblock. Oh..." She bit her lip. "There's a Tosh here. She sounds like she's been here all along from talking to her, but I don't remember seeing her." She shrugged her shoulders as she began to dish up their plates. "It was nice to talk to her. I miss having her here. With her, it kind of makes the old gang." It did in a way, but it wasn't *her* Ianto, *her* Tosh. She sighed and looked up at Jack. It was the same, but it wasn't. "Can you get the marmalade out of the fridge for me? I love it on my toast."

Jack: He watched her and nodded some, tilting his head a bit. He licked his lips and nodded. "Really? I don't ... know if I could, you know, it's horrible. I still am not ready for it," he replied and moved to get up from teh table to get the marmalade. He moved to sit down at the table and put it on the table before getting comfortable. "And yeah, we're just gonna go play on the swings and al that so she'll be nice and tired for her nap."

Gwen: "Sounds like a perfect daddy and daughter day." Gwen came over and gave Jack a plate, smiling at him before dishing up one for herself. She would need to sit down soon. Her feet were staring to get a bit tired. Turning off the stove, she sat down with him. She looked up at Anwen, placing a small bowl of dry cheerios for her to much on. "It was hard. Really hard, but... I miss home. It made me feel a little better."

Jack: He smiled a little bit and looked at her, tilting his head a little bit. "Mm, yeah, it's gonna be nice, i think," he replied and started to eat. He licked his lips and listened to her talk about them. "Well, it's still hard on me because of ... well, yeah, but it's good. I mean, you deserve to feel that way. "

Gwen: She nodded her head. "I know. I'm sorry. Maybe seeing them would be good, Jack? Seeing them alive and reveling in that?" Her head tilted to the side and she started to dig into the breakfast. Reaching out, she took the marmalade and started to spread some on her toast. "Any plans for tonight? I can make something for dinner." She had been really enjoying cooking since she was pregnant. She found the smells intoxicating. Just then, the baby kicked. She smiled, reaching down to put a hand on her belly. She was almost due now. She was ready to blow.

Jack: "No no, no plans for tonight, pretty much why I plan on wearing this little tyke out so taht she'll sleep," he said and avoided teh first part at all for the moment. He pursed his lips together and thought about it. "Maybe. Maybe indeed, I'll think on it," he replied and looked at her with a smile. "Promise." He took a bite from his food and watched her. "What, baby kicking?" he reached out a hand just in time to feel it.

Gwen: "Yeah, been kicking a lot lately." She reached down and covered his hand with her own. "I think he's going to be a footballer, just like you." She smiled up at him. It was nice, the way they were talking again. "Okay, I'll make something nice for dinner. Just the two of us." It felt nice, having his hand on her belly.

Jack: "Ahh, well, he needs to tone it down in there," he tapped her belly with his fingers and turned his hand over to squeeze her hand. He then went back to eating and winked at her. "Yeah, surprise me, you know what I like."

Gwen: "I do." She finished her breakfast and put the plates in the sink. Turning from him, she then started to work on the dishes. Things were almost going back to normal. She was glad. She hated fighting with Jack. She loved him too much. "Meat and potato kind of guy," she teased with a smile.

Jack: And he smiled over at her, winking some. "You got it, baby," he said, moving to stand up and leaned over to kiss the baby exaggeratedly. He then moved over to press a kiss to Gwen's lips. "I'm going to shower before taking her to the park."

Gwen: "Okay. I'll watch the baby." She felt her heart swoon a little bit as he kissed her. She almost wanted to ask if she could come with, but a father daughter day might be the best solution. "You should, you dirty boy," she teased.

Jack: And he laughed a little bit, tilting his head a little bit. "You're welcome to come with love. Some fresh air might do you some good. I know you don't like being cooped up in here," he watched her, raising his brows hopefully. "And I know, so dirty."

Gwen: "I'd like that. Maybe I'll pack a small picnic for us." She stepped up to him and hugged him, kissing his chin. "Then you better go get cleaned. You can't be dirty on the beach." She smiled and gazed up into his eyes. "The sun will do us all good."

Jack: "Oh, so we're going to the beach now?" he teased and looked at Anwen who seemed to like that idea far better. "So it is!" he kissed her again before moving out of the room. "Going!"

Gwen: "We don't have to go to the beach," she yelled after him. Shaking her head, she changed Anwen into a cute little sun dress and packed a small thing of water and snacks for them. Moving into the living room, she bounced Anwen on her lap while she waited. She really had a great life. She was very lucky. Sometimes, she wasn't even sure she deserved the happiness that she had.

Jack: And when he came back, he was dressed in a pair of jeans and a tshirt for a change of pace. "And we can go to the beach, I have swim trunks on under this," he said, looking at Anwen. "Oh aren't you a cute little princess then aren't you. C'mere," he opened his hands for her and picked her up. "Okay, love, lets go."

Gwen: Gwen smiled and rose to her feet. She was wearing a pair of sandals and a pretty blue maternity dress. Her hair hung down around her shoulders. Gently, she lifted a bag and slung it over her shoulder. "She's cute and she knows it." She chuckled and followed along after him. "Looking good, Captain. I like those jeans."

Jack: "I'm glad, I didn't think what I normally wore would count as beach attire," he said, pulling a face at the baby, who giggled at him. He kissed her cheek and started toward the door. "Off we go then!"

Gwen: She smiled as she followed Jack out the door. Thankfully, they didn't live far from the beach. And it was a nice day, so they could walk there. Getting a little exercise was good for them. As the sun hit them, she slid on a pair of sunglasses and tried not to be blinded. "You will be fine as long as you keep some clothes on," she teased.

*****

Gwen: Gwen smiled as she came into the flat, her family trailing behind her. She was exhausted. The day at the beach had been a blast. And Jack had been right, as always. They had successfully tired out Anwen, who was napping against Jack's shoulder. Whistling to herself, Gwen went into the kitchen to put away the picnic basket and clean the dishes.

Jack: And he moved up the stairs to go put Anwen down for her nap. He then made his way back downstairs after he'd tucked the little girl in, dropping on the couch with his arm over his face. He couldn't help but admit that he was exhuasted too.

Gwen: "Still want me to make you dinner?" She chuckled and flopped down next to him, her leg brushing against his. She sighed, reaching up to run a hand through her hair. There was still bits of sand in it. "I can..." She just needed a little break, a few minutes before she cooked.

Jack: "Mmm, yeah, but you can lay here with me for a little bit," he said, moving to pull her body down beside his. Her back against the back of the couch and him on the outside so that she didn't roll off the couch. "better?"

Gwen: "Mmmm. Much." Gwen willingly wrapped her arms around him and cuddled up close. Her eyes closed and she rested her face against his shoulder. They hadn't really been close in a while. It felt good to be close again. "Maybe it's time we take a nap too," she teased.

Jack: And he laughed a little bit, his eyes already closed. he hummed softly and just slid his hand against her back, nodding a little bit. "Mmm, maybe."

Gwen: "Maybe?" She grinned and kissed his neck. She had a lot she wanted to ask and say to him, but she didn't. Not now. Maybe someday, but not today. It had been such a good day and she didn't want to ruin it. "Thank you for today," she whispered.
