Zoo Gone Wild!
Obviously, a person is going to see animals at the zoo, but, generally, they are in cages. This past week, patrons of the Central Park Zoo had the opportunity to see some wild animals, including a cheetah, running in the open! Zoo officials have released an official statement, claiming that they don't know where the animals came from and assuring the public that no animals, dangerous or otherwise, are currently missing. Unfortunately, the same might not be true for some of the people and employees who were at the zoo on Sunday, April seventeenth.
The New York Police Department received a high volume of calls over a period of three days. Missing people reports spiked dramatically, while other calls reported strange animals roaming the city. One police officer, who prefers to remain anonymous, was sent to answer a call about a monkey harassing an apartment building only three blocks from the park. When he arrived on the scene, the officer swears he saw the monkey transform back into a human. The officer stated that the human turned out to be someone reported missing, a story that might sound familiar to zoo keeper Rhonda Gainesburg.
Ms. Gainesburg has worked at Central Park Zoo for ten years and is in charge of the bears. She graduated cum laude from New York University's College of Arts and Sciences, with a degree in biology. Described as active and healthy by both friends and co-workers, she has no history of mental health issues or substance abuse. Ms. Gainesburg claims something unusual and terrible occurred on that lovely Sunday that the officials want to cover up.
"Something alien and sinister happened that day. They'll try to deny it, but anyone who was in the area of the bears could tell you. People were changing into animals! I w-was turned into a raccoon! I don't remember everything. I do remember watching a bunch of people, park visitors, turn into birds," Ms. Gainesburg told a reporter. "I also remember a bunch of animals, a cheetah, an owl, and a snake digging through trash...together! They had some strange device. I don't know what it was. I never got a good look at it, but the memory makes me shiver!"
Like the monkey, Ms. Gainesburg says she simply transformed back into a human, after two days as a raccoon. Officials from both Central Park Zoo and the New York Police Department have refused to comment on this matter. It is not known whether the strange appearances of the animals will be given further investigation. However, one or two strange deaths that occurred in the area are still being investigated and it is hoped the missing person cases will be given due consideration, as well.
