Who Got Us That.....
When: Masters Wardrobe Plot
Who: Owen Harper
wanker4life & Liz
lizfirestarter/OTA!
Where: The Wedding Reception at the Pub!
What: Okay, so LMAFO wasn't going to sing about everybody shuffling instead it was a radio playing Glenn Miller instead. He was going to sit down to have a nice helping of Scotch. Okay, so it wasn't a wedding that involved people picking chicken or fish for dinner, it was a proper celebration that he finally joined the ranks of the married. "Maybe we outta change our names to Harkness." He teased the crowd. "Another round for all the blokes!" Owen looked over his shoulder, it was just them, just a party of people from the 21st century parting in the 1940's while the Nazi's dropped bombs over London. This wasn't exactly right.
Owen eventually excused himself and something caught his eye, a big box, a big gift box and he looks over towards one of the Jack's. "This is a big telly in a cabinet isn't it? Right, like I'm gonna watch a game on a television the size of a post card." He wanders over towards it to take a good look at it.. There's something off and something alien about the box. "Oh, who needs presents now?!"
(OOC: This kicks off the next round of the plot. We'll enter the box once everyone has had their fill of the party. For those who weren't here? Don't worry, The Doctor or one of the Jacks will come back for you with the TARDIS.)

That was, of course, until they got to the pub for the reception and she remembered she couldn't drink. And she shouldn't be around that much smoke, or in the past when there's a war going on and bombs dropping and she ends up throwing up nothing but water. Gross.
Liz finds a toothbrush, and rinses her mouth out with enough Creme de Menthe to make her want to throw up again before she goes to find Owen. She takes a deep breathe to try and relax, then another, and another and finally slides herself under his arm while he's inspecting the huge gift. "Quit staring at the presents." Liz says in her best teasing voice. "You're supposed to be focused on me, remember?"
no subject
He's listening to a bit of music that's playing and, 'As Time Goes By' begins to play. Owen turns away from the gifts and he holds out his hands. "I've been waiting for us to have a chance to dance and claim a song for ourselves. How about this one?" He bows with his hand offered out to Liz. "Can't focus on you if you're tied up in the bathroom.."
no subject
Yes, Liz once again feels like being pregnant is all her fault.
She manages a small smile when Owen offers her his hands. "We're gonna have a song? Something...that makes me get all misty eyed every time I hear it?" Then he bows and it's all she can do not to actually get misty eyed for real.
She wrinkles her nose. Liz had really hoped Owen wouldn't notice how much she was hanging near the restroom. "I'm just..." Liz pauses, then tugs on Owen's arm. Maybe a dance, the traditional husband/wife dance and all these oddly normal comfort that comes with it will give her the courage she needs to tell him. "I'm nervous. I meant to ask one of the Jacks to teach me to dance and I never got to."
no subject
The song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d22CiKMPpaY) begins to play and he smiles. "Course we need a song. Yup, I'll even get you a copy of Casablanca so you can hear it over and over again." He watches her wibble and he goes to take her hand.
Owen's not a great dancer either but he figures slow dancing isn't an issue. "Don't worry about it. We'll be fine. I'll bet we'll be even better than Jack would ever be." He wants to do something normal, he takes her hand in his and he tries to do what he did with Diane. "So let's have that big and special dance, Mrs. Harper."
no subject
"Don't test your luck. You've seen me try to walk in heels." She lets Owen lead her for a dance, though she leans a little closer to him if only to keep her shaking legs from falling out from under her.
Then there's the name. God, she really is gonna cry. "Say it again." Liz whispers and beams like crazy, kisses him gently. "Just...the last part of what you just said."
no subject
He's fighting back tears of his own and he'll eventually give into them as the dance progresses. "What? You'll get to see me walk in heels before the night's done." He continues to lead her for the dance. He leans over to give her a kiss on the cheek. "We were made to be with one another."
"Mrs. Elizabeth Harper. I like it. We've got a lot of H's. Maybe I should of did that retarded thing and took Sherman to even it up." Owen teases, and he returns the kiss. "But you're just perfect tonight and every night."
no subject
She makes a noise that would be comparable to a squee when he says the whole name. "Don't ruin it now by teasing me, jerk." Liz decides to throw the traditional proper dance position out the window and wraps her arms around Owen's neck like they're a couple of kids at prom.
She hugs him even tighter when he keeps pouring on the compliments. Liz sighs, real content bliss very clear before she pulls back a little to look in Owen's eyes. "I...have to tell you something. And...it might make you think I'm more perfect...or less." She says cautiously. "Just...remember all that sweet shit you just said and why you married me in the first place before you freak out OK?"
Liz swallows back her nervousness and leans in again, spitting out the words before she loses her nerve. "I'm pregnant." She says quickly, and when the entire world doesn't explode when she said is she adds just as fast. "Twins."
no subject
He doesn't care if they look like two kids at their prom date. "I'm a sappy old jerk then." He just seems to beam. All that cynicism washed away for the day. "I'll remember that for the day we're two old farts in motor scooters with a nurse taking our money."
Owen stops for a bit and he looks at Liz, he tries to take everything in that she just said. He still wonders if she's nervous. "You're serious right?" He doesn't seem upset about it, sure Robbie is still young but they'll manage somehow. Owen's response is to give Liz a big kiss. "Robbie will be just as happy as I will be when they're born. But shit. Twins. You're not sharing any glasses of water with Alisa are you?"
no subject
She knows why she loves him, why she took that ultimate leap of faith and emotionally (and legally) connected herself to Owen for the rest of their lives. It doesn't have to be said, and she'd probably sound like a babbling idiot if she tried. Liz just smiles and presses another kiss to Owen's lips. "Love you." She says softly before smirking slightly. "And I get to pick out the scooters when we're too old to walk around together anymore."
Then she waits for him to react to the big news. She's more than nervous and it's a miracle she didn't throw up on him, too. Liz rolls her eyes a little and pulls back. "No, it'a a wedding day prank. Ha, ha. I got you." She says dryly. "Yes, I'm really pregnant. Ianto and Patrick scanned me and everything. Twice." She confirms. "You want me to kill a couple rabbits just to make sure, I think that's what they did in the forties." Liz snarks gently, hiding behind that wall of sarcasm until she knows how Owen feels about this.
Then there's the kiss and she bursts out laughing. Obviously this is a good thing. She wants to hug him but there's his damned broken ribs to consider so Liz keeps her arms around her husband's neck, absolutely beaming at his reaction. "Robbie's happy playing with a paper sack. I think he hangs out with the dogs too much." Liz teases gently, ignoring the quip about Alisa's water glasses. She kisses him again, and again and again until she loses count, not that her mind's on counting, before resting her head on Owen's shoulder. "This...really is the happiest day of my whole life." She says softly before looking up at him. "Nice job."

"Yes you did," he says, "I hope you didn't mind I said yes."
no subject
"Didn't think you'd say yes to be completely honest."

Now he's being...nice and it's just... weird .
"Did you like...find religion or something? Why are you being so nice?"

So I decided to extend the olive branch as it were."
no subject
"Well....since this is the happiest day of my life...or something." Liz says sheepishly. "Apology accepted."

She assumes that Jack got her and Owen separate gifts. "That huge box your doing?"
no subject
Then there's a mention of a huge box and he uhs. "No. That's not mine."
no subject
She chuckles and grabs his arm. "Well, since you gave me away...you're like my stand in dad or brother or something so I kind of have to, don't I?"
"Wonder who it's from..." Liz ponders out loud, looking past Jack at the huge box. "You could fit a small car in there. Maybe someone got us a...very small car."
no subject
He moves Liz to the dance floor for a slow dance. Jack didn't 'dress up' for the occasion. He's happy in his old officer's uniform and he hums. "No. If you don't want to dance with me you don't have to."
"I wonder myself. There's no name tags or anything on it." Jack goes to give Liz a dip and he smiles. "I'm letting you keep the car you know that. How about I give you guys the honeymoon."
no subject
Liz is happy Jack showed up. He could have been pantless and she wouldn't have bitched. OK, maybe she would have but...still. "You fit right in here, you know that?" She teases before shaking her head. "I never said I didn't want to dance with you, boss. In fact I'd been kinda hurt if you didn't."
"You better let us keep that car if you're keeping that damn plane." Liz teases trying not to giggle. Ok, dipping may be a bad idea. "Careful..." She wrinkles her nose a bit. If Jack didn't figure out why she wants her desk back by now this will be another clue. "I'm a little.... nauseous."
She looks back at the gift. "No name means I'm not opening it here." She says simply. "I want the people who bothered to show to see Owen and me open gifts first."
no subject
Jack wouldn't of missed this for the world and even if he came close to it he was not going to miss it this time. "I'm going to same about you Liz. You looked like you belonged in that plane when we went up there." He continues to sway along with the music. "I guess this is that father daughter dance that they do at weddings. Alisa has her biological parents still but there's lots of you here who don't have that."
"I plan on it. I think the Doctor might be able to make any repairs that it will need when we get back home. Or Owen can do it." And then it hits when Liz tells him that she feels nauseous and he carefully brings her back up to her feet. "Are you?" Jack's going to let Liz tell him.
"We can open the gifts at home. Would you believe me if I told you The Doctor gave the manor as a gift to all of the children?"
no subject
"Well, Dad..." She teases even more after Jack makes a comment about the father/daughter dance. She waits for the hints she's been dropping to sink in. "Yes. Why else would I give up something that's important to me unless it was for someone...two...someone's who are more important to me?" Liz says in a round about way. "Patrick scanned me before the ceremony. I promised Ianto I'd tell you so...there we go."
She looks at the gifts and smiles. "Can't anyone do a nice normal gift anymore?"
no subject
"That makes me a grandfather doesn't it?" Jack laughs and he doesn't have to bribe Liz with cigarettes this time. He continues his dance with her. "Two? I'm going to have to put birth control into the HUB water supply aren't I?" He steps back and he looks at Liz. "If you want to warm a desk you can be my guess." He listens and that of course clears things up. "Right. Desk duty."
"What is a nice normal gift?" Jack asks Liz as he pulls her into a hug. "A toaster and a blender?"
no subject
"If you're my dad you're already one. Or did you forget about Robbie?" Liz snickers, glancing over to her somehow sleeping in all the noise son. That trick of cutting back on naps really does help. "I think...I'm done after these two." Liz says thoughtfully. "I'll have to talk to Owen since he's technically my doctor but...three's a good number, I think." They'll cross the bridge of elective surgery when they get there.
"I could use a toaster, and a decent coffee maker. Ianto busy with his new daughter. Where am I gonna get my fix?"
no subject
"The two of you are making me sound good." Jack laughs as he continues to dance along to the music. "I'll just keep to Uncle Jack. Grandpop makes me sound like a gray old man." He nods his head when Liz mentions not wanting anymore. "Three's a good number but you never know."
Jack raises an eyebrow and there's a nod of his head. "I'll get you a coffee maker when we get back home. Or we can buy a Starbucks and have it built into the HUB. No. Ianto would have a fit."
no subject
"You are an old man, remember?" Liz is going to keep teasing Jack if only to not make herself think about dancing too much. She's not very good at it. "I'll talk it over with Owen. We're not you and Alisa: Super Mom and Super Dad."
"Starbucks!" Liz gasps like Jack just offered her swamp water in a red solo cup. She snickers. "He will beat you with a file folder if you did that."
no subject
He laughs and he's going take it easy on Liz. "I don't look like an old man. That's the plus side of this entire immortality thing. I get to keep my youthful appearance." He nods his head when she mentions it. "No. I know Alisa's going to ask to see if we can um experiment." He doesn't mention sex in the cockpit of the plane he was in.
"How about I tell Ianto he can open his cafe up inside of the HUB!" Jack was teasing about Starbucks. "He'll leave me to do my own paperwork if I put a Starbucks in the HUB."
no subject
"Experiment? Do I even want to know?" Liz shakes her head, not at all surprised Jack is being himself.
Liz shoots him a very judgmental look. "You make Ianto do your paperwork? He's not a secretary. Get some college kid to do your filing, Geez!" She's teasing again though. She knows Ianto's nature makes him very good at paperwork.
no subject
He mms. "Birth control that her body can tolerate. I don't want to see her being barefoot and pregnant for all eternity." Jack's sure he can find something that will work. "At least, I want to see us raise the children we have right now." Of course any more would be welcomed with the same love as any other child.
"I've never been able to tell Ianto no. He still likes to do it." Jack goes to give Liz a light twirl. "But he's more than that. I know. Do you really want to trust some college kid with our super secret information? They'll sell it on the internet."
no subject
Liz quirks a brow and tries not to laugh. "You know if she heard you say that she'd probably hit you, don't you?" Liz nods thoughtfully. "You know, there's these really amazing things called condoms." She teases, though she has no place to. Her and Owen have had their share of problems with those. Mainly forgetting.
"So find some college kid who doesn't use the internet." Liz says as if that's the easiest thing in the world. "Ianto has a little girl now, he can't be filing your big lies about why there was a zombie tyrannosaurus running down the Sunset Strip."
no subject
He looks over towards the bar and he spots Alisa. "Oh, do I?" Jack teases and he knows one thing. "I always tend to forget those." He leaves the pheromone overload issue out of the question. "I do try just so you know."
"Good luck. I might have to hire someone Amish." Jack teases, and he knows all about the little girl. "Ivy's her name right? I'm glad he's got a chance to grow out of that shell of his more. He's come a long way since we first met. What? Robert Evan's was responsible for the tyrannosaurus! " He gives her a teasing laugh. "I never heard what happened after that so I guess there's a surprise waiting for us at home."
no subject
"I swear I'm gonna have someone tattoo it on your penis. And Owen's." Liz know's it won't stick for Jack, but the idea of the pain of it will hopefully make him remember. "Trying doesn't keep her from getting knocked up." Liz points out.
"Or someone who can't use a computer." Liz teases right back. "Ivy. We got her a pink My Little Pony." She says with a chuckle. "He's nervous about it but I think he and Patrick will make amazing Dads. That's why I wanted them to be Robbie's godfathers."
"Would you stop blaming Hollywood legends for rift shit!" Liz shouts back, then realize they're in a pub in the past and yelling things like that may be a bad idea. "Did you guys stop it?" she drops her voice to a near whisper.
no subject
He gives Liz a look of... you're not getting a needle anywhere near his penis. "Good luck. I'll snap the neck of anyone who dares to put a needle down there." He knows she's teasing him. "I know." Jack lowers his head and he does feel bad for Alisa. "We'll figure something out. I won't do anything to her that she wouldn't agree to."
"I'm sure I can find someone. I'll look into it when we get back home." Jack knows Ianto has his hands full and he knows he has his cafe. "I don't want to see him being forced to close that cafe of his. He put too much work into it. What about these two?" Jack asks about the twins.
"I'll blame the next one on a dead Hollywood legend. You know what? I'll let you handle calls to the city then." Jack teases, and he looks over at the people in the pub. He looks at the old pilots and he laughs. "We stopped it. It made a big burning mess but we still need to figure out who's causing that mess."
no subject
"See?" Liz grins at Jack's strong reaction to the idea of a cock tattoo. "You're pretty protective of that thing, maybe it'll help you remember to be more careful with it." She smiles slightly and changed the dance like position she has her arms in to a gentle hug. "I know it's not easy, but I was talking to the other Jack, the not so sad anymore one, a couple weeks ago. He's got a good point. We're not normal, we have to find our normal ourselves, and do what feels right for ourselves, the people we love and our children." Liz nods her head confidently. "You'll find a way. You love her enough and she loves you enough that you will find a way."
"You need to ask Ianto what he wants. You know how he is, he's not gonna just stick a post it on your computer to tell you." Liz points out. Why is she giving the Boss advice? She's not boss material...is she? "What two?" She raises a brow. "You mean your kids? You want your paperwork done in crayon?"
Liz narrows her eyes at the idea of Jack blaming legendary filmmakers for Torchwood shenanigans. "Yeah, well maybe I will. Maybe THAT can be my shiny little pregnant girl desk job." Or her 'mommy' job. Liz doesn't know how she feels about so much field work with three children she'll need to make sure to come home to.
"Can't those guys who showed up at the last second help? Report said they really seemed to know what they were doing." Liz read it, and it freaked her out, to be honest. That's the kinda thing the BPRD dealt with, only on a much smaller level.
no subject
"Protective? Its the fact. No. Never mind." Jack laughs, and he puts his arms around Liz so she can hug him as they dance. The song has switched over a few times and he's going to have to return Liz to Owen at some point. "No it's not easy. Alisa and I spoke about how we're going to educate our own children. We've got enough children in the same age range that we could privately educate them." He was wondering how the other Jack was, the one with a daughter. "He's right. We're not 'normal' by well what the definition of normal is. I'm sure you and Owen have found out what your normal is."
He knows Ianto well and Jack nods his head. "You're right. He won't. I'll see what it is he wants. If he needs help, I know that I can do what I can to help him." He laughs a little bit. "What are your plans for your own children? Robbie's almost a year. And, now you have two more on the way. I've got David and Jon to help me with my paperwork already."
Jack's tone is anything but serious when he mentions blaming legendary filmmakers for what trouble The Rift has caused. "There we go. You can help Owen with his paperwork." Jack teases. He would understand if that's what Liz wants. He's been picking that up from Alisa also. That field work doesn't have the same appeal it once did.
"It might allow for me to have a break myself. I've worked hard in getting this place together but look what happens? We go sauntering through time and space with The Doctor. I could let him take the helm for a bit so I can focus my energy elsewhere." Jack's been thinking long and hard about this. "They do." This is unlike what Torchwood normally would deal with. Jack could always put the label of 'alien' on it and it was fine. The past two major operations were anything but that.

Liz knows, or at least she hopes, Owen won't get upset about the Boss hogging time with her. "That...is actually a really good idea." She nods in agreement. "Be like in a comic book but between the Doctors and the people here, everyone will have geniuses for kids."
Liz chews her lip and blushes. "Would you believe I don't have a plan?" That's very unlike her. Liz likes security and knowing what's coming but somehow that little boy changed everything in her mind. "I just...wanna be there when he talks and walks and rides a bike and becomes a brilliant slightly antisocial sarcastic doctor like his daddy." She shrugs. "That's enough of a plan for right now, isn't it?"
"Oh, screw Owen's paperwork." Liz has been there and done that, and it's far too stressful. "C'mon. I've been here, what two years. I think I've earned a little bit of trust to do my own higher level paperwork, haven't I?"
no subject
He looks over his shoulder and he knows he should end the dance. He goes to escort Liz over to the table where everyone was. "I know it would be nice for them to know other kids but its just not possible. Alisa came to understand that. Still we can have our normal." Jack laughs a little bit at the idea of the children being geniuses. "We shall see."
"We don't either sometimes." Jack watches Liz and he nods his head. "So do I. For all of them if I can." Jack's voice softens and his smile fades. He worries about not being there for his family. "I think a good solid break is what I need. There's a new Jack who's looking to rebuild Torchwood. I think he can 'run things' for me." He nods his head with a smile. "I think that's a fantastic plan Liz."
He laughs a little bit at that. "I'm sure you can do your own high level paperwork. I wouldn't put it past Owen to give you his to do also." Jack finally goes to help Liz to her chair. He's still going to be a gentleman with her and he looks over at all over his friends. The fact that everyone is here and happy makes him feel good. "This is one of those perfect nights. I don't think you could ask for anything more Liz."
no subject
Liz ditched her heels long ago, she could literally dance all night if she wanted to. She doesn't, but she could. "We'll cross the bridge when we get there, right? Only one who really has to worry now is Ianto and...that kid doesn't even need school."
The mention of a Jack wanting to rebuild Torchwood makes her pause. "Oh?" Now she's curious, and nervous. It's not exactly the place to talk about work though "Tell me. Later. I'm holding you to it." Liz all but demands.
She's happy Jack thinks it's a good plan. She'd not so confident in her parenting skills and she'd hate to learn the hard way how not to screw up the kids that are on the way.
Liz doesn't expect anything short of gentleman from Jack. It really is appropriate he took the father/daughter dance spot. She may have killed him a few times, and seen him naked way more than anyone should, and gotten both of them covered in slime and got knows what else, but he's still the guy who gave her a home when she didn't have one. A purpose when hers was lost, and ultimately the ability to have everything she does now. She snickers at the comment about not asking for anything more.
"I could...but I'm greedy like that." She says with a devious little smile. "I want cake."
