When: December 10, 2011
Where: New York City
Who: Owen
genius_mind & Lyssa

What: Lyssa hopes ice skating
Lyssa pulled her coat around her again before resting her hands on the railing. Looking down at the ice rink below. She was waiting on Owen for their evening out together. They'd spent the day in New York City with Rain going to the big toy shop. Where Lyssa had found the giant piano and had to be dragged away to let the kids waiting have a go. Then on to Macy's so Rain could go meet Santa. The resulting photograph of them all together was something Lyssa wanted to put on the wall and Owen thought should be hidden away. Not that it was bad, it just showed him having fun with his girls. Lyssa had a lot of fun, she'd bought far too much and the hotel suite had lost a corner to the bags of things. The majority weren't for her. Rain was the one that was going to get the most and at time's she'd been able to sneak off leaving him with Rain the result was a pile for Owen.
Checking her phone again she wondered what her husband had planned for her. No new messages. At least it meant Rain was okay with the sitter too. She hoped they'd get to go ice skating or something. After she'd got all dressed up for it. Not that she'd be telling Owen just how much she'd spend on the pair of boots alone to compliment the dress. Maybe the new coat too.

"Hot chocolate sounds good." He motioned with his shoulder to the skating. "We could do that too. Haven't done it since I was a young brat, so god knows how many times I'll fall down." He reached down and gave her hand a squeeze. "Think you can hold me up?"

When she'd finally sorted out some skates to borrow she looked down at her own boots and quickly changed. She wasn't going to give anyone the chance to bring up her choice in footware about how new it was or the possibility of explaining just how much she'd spent on them.
She stood leaning against the edge of the ice waiting for Owen. "I think we'll be in the bar pretty quick." She wasn't so sure the ice skating was a brilliant idea any more. No matter how much she had wanted to do it earlier.

"We can just go in the bar and watch them?" Leaning in, he gave her a gentle kiss. "Come on. It will be fun. You can mock me. You aways need new material."

She was still on her feet for the moment. More than she expected.

With the skates on, Owen went out onto the ice. It was just like riding a bike. You remembered easily, didn't you? He made his way, but didn't get very far before he was on his arse.
It was hard for him to bite back the curse. Only because there were kids around.

"Here let me..." She lost track of her feet and went past where he was to end up on her arse. Thankful she'd kept the coat on. At first it looked like she was crying but she was laughing. "Ow." She was still laughing as she pulled herself up against the side.

"You okay," he yelled over to her. "Aren't we a pair?"

She pushed away from the side, staying on her feet better that time and going forwards. Eventually making an entire circuit around the rink on her own. But she still didn't really know how to stop so slid ungracefully into the side where she could get off the ice. "Owen, I'm going to get a drink." She wasn't going back on the ice. If they did this again she'd be seeing about maybe getting lessons or something first.

"Sounds good. Irish coffee would be really good about now." Or the hot chocolate, as long as it had some alcohol in it. He laughed and followed her off the ice. "What the fuck were we thinking," he grumbled as he took his skates off.

She leant against the bar reading the lists of the hot chocolates they could have. "Hey, Owen they do your Irish coffee. But how about Cruzan Vanilla Rum, Godiva Chocolate Liqueur, Hot Chocolate, Crème de Cassis with Whipped Cream? Which do you want?" If she decided she wanted to try them all he'd be carrying her back to the hotel.
no subject
"Have whatever you want. I just want the coffee." He shook his head and kissed her cheek. "We don't have to be anywhere. Sitter has Rain. Do what you want."
no subject
"If I did that we'd be getting arrested." She smirked at him before she ordered their drinks.

He snorted. " Like I always do."

"Because you asked me to."

"So we did what I wanted to do, what do you want to do now?" She noticed the drinks were sat waiting for them too. "Apart from the drinks, I think that's something we both like."
