Intro: Where's a Police Man when I need one?

When: Moving Day Plot
Who: Amelia Pond [livejournal.com profile] praytosanta/OTA
Where: Lost and Wandering

What: Little Amelia has found herself wandering the desert alone. She's brave, she just faced one man in a blue box not long ago tear her kitchen apart and to poke some weird stick into that crack.

She's got her little suitcase in her hands and she's dressed for an English Easter. Amelia just hopes to find that police box with that strange man again, she's hungry and tired as brave as she is Amelia is still a child. She's along the highway that would take her towards the new Torchwood HUB and it's amazing that people just drive past her. She's scared, she's scared and on the verge of tears right now.

And of all the unlikely people to rescue her, the Master is somewhere near the top of the list.

"You look lost."

"I don't hurt kids, alright?" He giggles. "Not enough meat on you, if nothing else.

"What are you looking for?"

He doesn't mind. He'll even be nice enough to herd her in the right direction!

But he'll keep her running towards Torchwood, only letting her go once someone there has found her.

Hey, he's trying to help. He just does it . . . differently. Why does no one appreciate his efforts?

Jack happened to be walking the very way Amy was running. He had his coat on, although God knew why, it was hotter than sin. He had his hands in his pockets and he barely saw the child barreling toward him. He checked his watch and took a step forward when she ran smack into him.

"Oh, oh, hey, easy," he said, holding his hands up for a second before reaching down to take a hold of her arms gently. "What're you running from?"

"Hey, you probably wouldn't have noticed her otherwise." The Master grins. "I think she knows the Doctor, she looks like a younger version of one of his companions and anyway I can smell it on her.

"I suggest you get her safe, which is to say far away from me."

And that's the last you'll be seeing of the Master today, for which you can thank your lucky stars. Although he'd be offended if he knew.

Jack wasn't a cop or any sort of police authority, but he wasn't going to correct her on it right now. He looked at her and listened intently when she said that about not having enough meat on. He frowned. "You're okay now, I won't let him hurt you," he said and then raised a brow, nodding about the creeper comment.

He then noticed who was following her and he stood up, making sure that he had his gun handy just in case. Something slid through him and he couldn't pinpoint whether it was fear or disgust or something else. He made sure to slide his hand around the girls back, holding her close to his side.

"Don't worry about that, I will," he replied, watching him and kept his voice even for the sake of the child.

Jack wasn't sure what he was going to do, but if The Master made a move toward him, he'd shoot him. Not that it would do him any good; the man would very likely kill him in front of the child and that wouldn't go over very well. He was quite sure of that. He relaxed his hand on his gunbelt when the Master finally left.

Jack finally took in her condition and listened to her talk. "Look for who?" he asked, thinking this little girl looked awfully familiar. He couldn't place it right then and there.

Jack looked at the suitcase with her things spread out. He moved over, bending down to start putting all of it back into the suitcase. He looked at the doll just as she said that about her friend. "The Doctor?" he looked at her and pursed his lips together, thinking about it. She knew The Doctor? He gave her another look and she reminded him of someone who said that she was the new companion of The Doctor. "Okay, here you go," he said, standing up with the suitcase and handing her the doll.

"You take that and I'll take this. We'll go find you something to eat and then we'll get you home, okay?"

Jack looked at her and he listened to her tell the story. It sounded familiar; he hoped the Doctor hadn't purposely abandoned this child like he abandoned most of his companions. He hoped that the man wouldn't be so cold and cruel to her. "Ah, yeah, he has an issue with being where he's supposed to be when he's meant to be there," he said, watching her for a second before turning his eyes toward the pills scattered on the ground. He motioned toward them and opened his mouth to ask when she said that last bit.

"Ah yeah, I do," he said and smiled some, standing up straight and offering her his hand. "C'mon now, lets get you something to eat and then we'll go see about finding him." Jack knew he'd be able to somehow; and if he couldn't, he would make it his damn mission to do so.
