Out for a Weevil Hunt
Ianto's happy to be out with this Jack on a hunt for a few stray Weevils. He's sure they're having a great time without a functioning Torchwood in Cardiff. He stares at Jack who's at the driver's side of the SUV. "I'm detecting Rift activity near the warehouse near the river."
He reaches for his dead double's glock, it feels somewhat wrong to be holding the dead man's gun but he'll treat it like a museum piece.

If he could only read Jack's mind he wouldn't mind if this Jack simply wanted to be a normal citizen anywhere. "The monitor is making quite a bit of noise. It might be more than just a Weevil. What if?" Ianto almost wonders or is scared to think it's activity from the Rift that will eventually lead to home. "No, no more what if's..."

Glancing over at Ianto and the monitor he lifts an eyebrow. "Is that because of all tears? The last time I saw it that active was...When Gray came." Jack weaves around a couple of slow moving cars and takes a quick left. "Should be coming up on location one in just another minute."

The activity on the monitor is something he's seen in his own universe with the fractured rifts opening and closing. "It could be a way home, but we'd never know." The energy readings are big and it may not be a Weevil. "Oh, lots of tears and you're right this does match up with spikes from when Gray came. It's also too familiar in recent terms.."
The two will see a big ripple of color in the sky, one visible crack in the very fabric of time and space itself. It's big enough for the pair to drive the SUV through it if they desired.

Then comes the slamming of the breaks with Ianto holding his hand out to catch the dash. "Yes it is. We don't know where it leads to either." The dangers of Rift travel is one never knows where these things will lead. He takes in a deep breath. "It could be something bigger than a Weevil or the Rift has something else in mind."
Ianto's eyes fall on the old Rift monitor and once again he stares at the widening crack. This he's seen before where they could see what's coming for them if it opens up wide enough.

He glances at the monitor the back out the window. "Well. We really aren't prepared for anything much bigger than a Weevil..." Jack trails off. "How many others are there?" This is big. The entire situation is bigger than him and with out the proper equipment. They good very well be facing some serious trouble. The immortal grins. "This could be /really/ fun."

He read of reports from Toshiko from her travels with Jack's Doctor about a world where these guys still existed. "It's Veggiesaur so that's a plus on it won't eat us."
Now this will be loads of fun.

The apatosaurus is a baby by size standards the bus sized dinosaur isn't going to stay still and it begins to plod down the street to much on yummy plants.
Ianto looks to see where Jack went to, of course he went to go something to stop their new friend. He follows Jack out of the SUV to go help him with this guy. "I'm not sure he'd be interested in chocolate either."
The dinosaur is now stripping the hell out of a tree and a bunch of plants on the side of a road.

This big gal stomps over to see the little one it was following and there's plenty of flattened things including a small compact car or two.
The two will be lucky this one only nommed on one Time Lord. Ianto stares at the two and then Jack. "We're going to need many large trees to get these guys to go back in there."
The mother's curious to the chattering pink things, she lowers her head to get a sniff at the pair. Ianto smells exceptionally tasty and sweet. "Hey.." There's an innocent chuckle from the Welshman. "At least this is --." He's interrupted by a harmless bump by the happy to sniff creature. "Hey, no tasting. Well better than Wee--!!"
When Jack turns around he'll see a pair of struggling legs hanging out from the dinosaur's mouth. The dinosaur seems to have a love for Welshmen in suits to go with those Time Lords.
OOC: Sorry I honestly thought I'd already commented. D:
He snorts part of him wants to just load the gear back in the SUV and drive away let UNIT handle this. This sort of thing really isn't his job anymore. He lacks the proper equipment. Jack sighs and watches as the larger of the two smashes a couple of cars making a beeline for them.
"...Yeah. We need a better plan." Fuck. Smashed cars. Giant dinosaurs. She better not smash his Range Rover the immortal would be a bit ticked about that. He is somewhat lost in thought, always picking the most inappropriate of times to let his mind wander, and trying to figure out how one might kill a dinosaur of that size with a pistol.
When it approaches and sniffs the Welshman. Jack starts to laugh. The sight is somewhat adorable, but then the creature lifts Ianto off the ground. "Oh Fuck! YAN!"
Don't freeze. Don't freeze. There is a few seconds this Jack, who has already lost one Ianto almost panics and stares stunned while this one is carried away. He kicks himself into gear and picks up the syringe. Hell with it. The problem now is how do you get a the damn dinosaur to let Ianto go without dropping him.
Shitshitshit.
OOC: Eek. :) We're gonna need to find a way back to NY. I got's an idear.
There's a muffled scream coming from Ianto while the two make a beeline for a park with lots of trees.
There's more rift activity if Jack is checking near the park the three are going to. He's lucky the dinosaur hasn't swallowed Ianto or dropped him. He finally is let go when the dinosaur stops by a pond to get a drink. The drop isn't exactly nice either with Ianto being dropped into the cool pond waters.
There's another large tear in time and space, it could lead to the dinosaur's home universe or it could lead to somewhere else completely.

Jack watches as Ianto is dropped into the pond. Thank God it was the pond and not just a straight drop to the ground. The Welshman might be cold and wet now but at least he's going to be alright.
"Ianto! Are you alright?" Jack laughs relieved. "This isn't the time for a swim we have more problems." He calls out teasing. Hopefully, the younger man's sense of humor is still intact.

Ianto's wet and he's cold, the fact the two dinosaurs have left are a good thing but when he turns his head to see there's a ripple effect its home. The home with the people that are looking for him.
He looks up at Jack from the pond in thought. "Yes I know what cold water does. We still have a pair of dinosaurs to deal with." This one crack seems to be growing to reach out to the pair. They may not have a choice if they come or stay.

He sloshes out from the pond to join Jack. He's happy to see the dinosaurs leave but they're going somewhere that's not Cardiff and with an equally large population. Ianto's enjoying this just as much other than the fact he was almost eaten by the big dinosaur.
"I say we follow them," Ianto's sure they're not going to out run the rift that's creeping towards them. Ianto holds out his slimy hand for Jack. "Shall we go running in this time or shall we just wait for the loss of dignity?"

Jack watches through the open crack at the waiting city. Much larger and much more busy than Cardiff. A pair of prehistoric creatures would probably be a bad thing. A very bad thing. There's that nagging coward in him that just wants to let them go, but it's becoming increasingly more apparent that the rift has other plans as it swirls closer to them.
"I say we go running in syringes a blazin' at least that way no one can say we didn't try..." He slips his hand into the other's waiting one and ignores the fact that it's covered in slime. It feels right. Holding his hand. Normal. Comforting and just the way it should be. "You know me," He smirks. "I rarely turn down a chance to play the dashing hero."

The fracture in time and space might be more than just the Rift in Cardiff acting up. Ianto looks up at Jack. While he may of been mad with his own Jack for a bit he never wanted to see him cower.
"I'll let you become the next victim of a curious dinosaur this time," Ianto laughs, and he would at least like to make that effort to try. He's rediscovered his love for this job. He could never go back to a normal life after this. "You're not the only dashing hero today." He waits for Jack to drag him along through the opening rift. "Let us be dashing in with syringes a blazin' then."

"Oh. I've been there already, Yan. 'Bout time you decided to join the party." Jack winks and tugs the younger man's hand pulling him forward. "What are you standing there for then. Let's go!" Jack glances back at the SUV. Nothing really in the vehicle that's of much use other than what they have already. He strides forward quickening his pace a bit the closer they get to the gap. "I'm perfectly willing to share the spotlight with you. We can be dashing heroes together then. Off we go.."
They close the last few paces between them and the Rift passing from Jack's home to someplace /completely/ unfamiliar to him. "Time to catch some Dinosaurs." He grins and drags the Welshman down the street after the beasts. Who are leaving quite the 'bread crumb' trail of broken cars and damaged property in their wake. "By the look of it we best move quickly. Come along." Jack tugs the hand in his and hurries to catch up with the lumbering giants.

He takes that leap into the Rift with Jack, it's a rough experience as he doubles over like someone just punched him in the stomach. They don't need any buses or anything. It takes Ianto a moment to register the dinosaurs are happy to munch on the overgrown grass of an empty lot. To make matters worse..Ianto sighs. "We're two hours south of New York." It was easy to mistake the ripple for New York City. The pair find themselves in a North Philadelphia neighborhood with two hungry dinosaurs.
The rift doesn't last long and it closes shut leaving the two far from Cardiff. "Shit." Ianto frowns now they've got two dinosaurs and there's going to be trouble from more than just those two.

Rift travel is infinitely more rough than travel with his formerly trusty Vortex Manipulator but after the Doctor 'fixed it' it's been nothing more than a glorified universal remote. The trip through the Rift makes Jack's stomach churn, but they don't have time for that. They really must get these creatures under some form of control.
"New York? Really? Oh.." He isn't sure how he feels about that but the as the opening behind them closes he really doesn't have much of a choice. He didn't even tell Gwen he was leaving. She'll be worried sick that he's done something stupid. (Not that suicide is much of an option for him, but she'll worry none the less.) "Shit is quiet the understatement, Yan. We need to figure out what to do. Fist things first, lets get this situation under control then we'll go from there, yeah?"
no subject
He winces and he chuckles as the younger dinosaur gives him a nudge on the backside. "Not you too." He looks up at Jack and he shakes his head no while he stands himself up. "Nope. We're two hours south of New York." He squints an eye as he catches wind of an old disposed of news paper. "Philadelphia. The trouble with Rift travel is you never know where you'll end up."
He looks back at the dinosaurs, he feels bad that this Jack never told his Gwen he was leaving. Then again he knew many of these Jacks were not exactly stable in staying. "You might want to get the lil'guy first. He's got a thing for my arse."

The captain casts a weary glance at the younger of the two dinosaurs. "Hey hey now little one." He says as he approaches it slowly in the most no threatening way he possibly can. "Well can you blame the little thing? It is quite nice." The captain replies to Ianto. "Why don't you let it have a look while I see if it wants to take a little nap?"
He /really/ hopes that putting the younger one down doesn't make the larger one mad or protective. Trampled by rogue dinosaurs isn't a death he /really/ wishes to add to his list. He manages to get close enough to the smaller of thee two to sink the syringe in its leg hopefully giving it a dose large enough to drop it, and small enough it stays alive. Judging these things is a fairly difficult task.

The smaller of the dinosaurs is curious about the other two while the mother seems intent on giving the dried up grass a good mowing. It sniffs Ianto again who isn't exactly smelling too hot right now with the smell of dinosaur slobber is a curious item today. "I'd rather not be mounted by our slobbery friend even if it is small."
There's a sigh of relief that the skin of the dinosaur is still thick enough to keep it from feeling the syringe going into it. It starts to wobble a bit along the field. The more troubling thing is mom brought in some curious onlookers from the neighboring homes. "We're going to have problems securing them. It's a bit of a problem we have sometimes with larger creatures like our friends here."
It could turn bad if mom gets angry and the sight of seeing the collapsing child gets a reaction and she goes to charge at the two..
