Grandpa? I really don't look it...

When: 15 June, 2011 / The Vortex
Who: The Doctor [livejournal.com profile] stetsons_r_cool/OTA
Where: The TARDIS

What:

The Doctor has moved the TARDIS back into the Vortex again he's not really concerned with not telling anyone where he plans to go other than he's doing it. The Doctor relocated the TARDIS again, Churchill gave him a phone call that he couldn't turn down and the travel through the Vortex meant the TARDIS went somewhere.

It was a bit of quiet time and The TARDIS drifted through space, it was only a matter of time until he would have to continue to work out the issue with the stars and these more troubling cracks in the universe. That will come, but right now he managed to stop by to visit Jack who was dealing with one fussy baby.

In his hands is the little Jacky and he drug out that old cot of his. "I know why you're always fussy, you for one like this cot and not that other one. Two. You think you're mom is just there to feed you, but no her name's Alisa and she's more for just feedings. Three. Well, no you cannot rip a hole in space and time. Four. You'll get a key to the TARDIS when you're twenty one."

The Master was growing impatient. In his own opinion, his own recent behavior had bordered on saintly. He'd quite generously lent this considerable talents to the Doctor's silly little causes. He'd helped save the Earth and a star whale's passengers. He felt he deserved, by now, to have his own TARDIS back.

The Master's mood was not improved, when he found the Doctor fussing over an infant, instead of working. Oh, the little tot was cute enough, the Master admitted to himself, though he didn't plan on admitting that out loud. Still, there were things that needed to be done!

"Doctor, I've often, in my own mind, compared your companions to fussy children. You've turned metaphor into reality. Aren't there a couple of mysteries that we should be solving?"

"Hardly universal, my dear Doctor," the Master disagreed.

He stepped close and, when the Doctor turned Jacky towards him, gently tickled the infant's cheek.

"Don't listen to him, child. I may have occasionally tried to kill him-- nothing he couldn't escape, mind you--but I've never sent him rude messages. Good manners are important, remember that. Well, Doctor, if we're going to play nanny instead of finding out why the stars have disappeared, you probably should tell me the infant's name."

"I don't think you can equate saving planets with taking a break from the ordinary routines of life, when doing so is your normal routine," the Master argued, shaking his head.

He watched patiently as the Doctor tucked the tiny child into bed, then followed him over to the console.

"They existed for the entire century, but no other? That's certainly odd. Are there any other notable time anomalies in that era?"

"It would take an event of considerable power to wipe out something as significant as the stars," the Master observed, but he was nodding. "Still, your theory would cover the facts we have so far. If so, we need to isolate and reverse that event."

"Well, we could always go back and make sure it happened as it was supposed to," the Master pointed out, shrugging lightly. "Or we could go to a star in the 32nd century and follow it's timeline into the past and try to discover how and when it either comes to be or ceases to exist."

"It's even odds whether your enemies or friends will kill you first, Doctor," the Master observed, chuckling.

The Master gave Jacky an amused look. He wasn't really surprised that the Doctor had sneaked off with a couple of Human Tots for an adventure. In his opinion, one of the Doctor's greatest flaws was his refusal to plan ahead.

"Let's get on with things, then, shall we?"
