Smashing Red Trainers!
The Doctor was inside of his TARDIS waiting for Jack, Liz and Alisa to join him. He had insisted on taking his TARDIS back to Cardiff with the group. He didn't exactly get why Jack needed those guns at that fantastic converted hotel of his. He's got everything on the console set. "Really, Jack you don't need all those guns. We should break that addiction of yours one day."
He didn't forget Liz and her need for an old timey picture along with the film to let her make her own. "And, we have one trip to the American Old West for a picture." The Doctor clicks his tongue and with everyone inside the trip to Cardiff begins.
It's soon over and The Doctor pokes his head from the doors only to see a familiar hole in the ground. "What?!" He squints and he glances around for the sight of any other TARDIS. There's nothing there so he shoots Jack a look. "See! Now, I told you guns are not the answer to things! I mean look at your HUB..."
PO: Gwen, Tenth Doc, Liz and Jack. Any others who pop in we'll stick in after Jack.

"What?" Liz has almost forgotten about that promise the Doctor made to her. "I...guess we can. I don't really care." It's unenthusiastic as best, and she doesn't even look at him. "Whatever."
She almost stays inside when she hears the Doctor going off about guns again, but then the mention of the HUB snaps her away from her own thoughts as she heads towards the door. "Wait...what happened to the HUB?"

He finds something there that's disturbing to the Time Lord a finger that belongs to one familiar person. "The Parliament happened, well a bomb in a stomach..." He digs in the dirt to bury the bit of 51st century flesh out of respect. The Doctor's had enough with death and broken friends.
He takes his sonic from his pocket and he scans the air. "It seems the Cardiff that was here, was replaced. Oh, nothing more than the stability of this location. It devoured this universe, the one that had the proper hole in the ground." He scans the ground again and he goes to take a bit to lick. "Nmm. Hmmm. Originally, the Cardiff of our universe had one of these holes. The Rift might of attempted to fix the flaw, but the..."
He goes to turn around to go back into the Cardiff with a handful of debris. "I can run this through the scanner. And you're acting strange!" He leans over to sonic Liz. "You're acting as if you're pregnant! And believe me, you're not."

He glances over at The Doctor and then over towards Liz. "Well this was unexpected, and if you didn't run off all the time.." Jack says to his old friend, and he goes off towards the lip of the hole.
"You're right, you're acting like you're expecting something." There's a bit of a look of relief on his face at that news. "Cardiff isn't exactly stable. It never was from what we just experienced at least it was mended somewhat."
The entire area makes him uncomfortable, he could of lost everyone that day but he didn't except for his own grandson.

So much had happened that Gwen tried very hard to stay away from the Plass. It really only brought her heartbreak. Still, Rhys' birthday was coming up and she wanted to do something nice for him. He had supported her, fathered a child with her and held her when she sobbed at Jack leaving her without a word. With the upcoming England vs. Wales game, the least she could do was get tickets for him and his mates. It would be nice for him to just have a day with the boys. She was so lost in her thoughts that she almost didn't see the blue box and the people standing beside the large hole in the ground.
Gwen stopped, her fingers clenched tightly around the handle of the pram she had been pushing, her knuckles starting to turn white. Even from far away, she would recognize that coat anywhere. While she didn't know the girl with him, she recognized the other man from his image on the computer monitor. Jack had run off with the Doctor. She hoped that he at least found what he had been looking for when he left. She wondered how long he'd been in Cardiff. Would he look her up or just leave again.
She moved tentatively forward, unsure whether she wanted to intrude or not. A part of her wanted to run over there as fast as she could and hug Jack, but she didn't even know if it was her Jack or not. It could be the other one, she wasn't sure. Creeping closer, she stood by the Millenium Stadium, just watching them. It was like she was afraid to get too close. Either it was a dream and she would wake up or it wasn't and he'd run off in his TARDIS.
The quiet was quickly broken by Anwen letting out a loud cry in her pram.

The Doctor had helped him switch his own coral with another Jack's much more mature coral. It was something needed in this strange universe and he peers up to see the people headed for the Stadium for a football match. "I never did get the idea of football."
The crying of the child breaks his attention to the soil in on his fingers and he goes to lick it. "Nope, no --. Oh that poor child." He lifts his head up to look in the direction of the crying child and he finds himself looking at a Gwen. He's seen his own Jack's Gwen during the Dalek's theft of the Earth but he never met her face to face. "It's not ours and we have a guest." He tells the others and without warning he bounds over towards her.
"Hello!" He calls out to her with a wave of his hand.

"Oh...my God." It's in reaction to everything that Liz is trying to process right now. The HUB's gone...She's not pregnant...THE HUB'S GONE! Wait...Cardiff. Replaced? "You're kidding, right?" She pushes between the Doctor and Jack, surveying the damage, unable to keep herself from wrapping her arms around her stomach.
Of course she knows damn well they're not kidding in the slightest. "Well, where did ours go then? All out shit's in there!" She looked down, frowning. "And who's it this?"
The baby's cry broke her focus from the crater and mess. She pulls a disapproving face as the Doctor bounds off towards the woman Liz can't quite make out yet. "He is no good at being discreet, is he?" She wonders out loud.

He blinks his eyes and he tries to figure his other friend out. "Liz are you okay?" He asks her and when someone distracts The Doctor well enough to get him to wander off. "Let's go see what he's gotten himself into, this time. I don't know where 'ours' went. All of our shit is still in New York, well most of our shit is there." He's not happy either, there was some items in the old Cardiff HUB that he had originally lost that he didn't want to see vanish again. "It's not ours.."
The crying of the baby and wandering Time Lord have Jack going to follow him. "No, I think anything about keeping a big secret means, to open up his mouth even more." It then hits him when he gets up closer that it is indeed Gwen. A Gwen and he wonders if for a moment if this was the same one he took on a small TARDIS trip. "Gwen!" Jack calls out and he takes Liz by the hand.
no subject
"He's not, is he?" Shooting the woman a grateful smile, she juggled Anwen in her left arm and extended her right hand. "I don't think we've met. I'm Gwen. Gwen Cooper." She was very grateful she wasn't the only girl in this group. "And you, I know you. Hello Doctor."
Gwen turns just enough that she's looking Jack in the eyes. Her head tilts to the side and she wonders if this was the Jack with the Tardis. He's smiling and looking like he's in a much better mood, so she doubts that it's 'her' Jack. "Jack." She smiles back at him, but it's a sad smile. She can't help herself, much as she tries. Things turned out like he said they would. Like she knew that they would. Jack never lied to her, not once. "Is this my rain check," she tries to tease. She's forcing the smile at least, but she just can't laugh. It's still too soon.

"I'm very good at keeping a secret. There's just somethings that aren't worth keeping under the covers." The Doctor smiles, he takes the offered hand to give it a firm hand shake. "I'm The Doctor. No, really just The Doctor." He was expecting the typical response to his name and he looks Gwen over. "Gwen Cooper from a very old Welsh family. I remember you from the time The Daleks took the Earth." If the hand was meant for Liz, The Doctor just made a good ass out of himself.
Then there's of course the other person of interest Anwen, The Doctor smiles and he aws. "And, just who are you?" He's going to fuss and he coos at her.
no subject
Liz doesn't even bother shaking her head at the Doctor taking Gwen's hand first. She's used to his how can one put it, extremely outgoing personality. The opposite of how Liz herself was before she came to Torchwood. It's part f why she likes him; it reminds her of how Hellboy was before his father was murdered.
"Doctor, focus. I don't give a crap about saloons right not." Liz snickers as she teases him and nods a greeting at Gwen. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out them being here, or maybe Jack being here, is throwing the woman for a bit of a loop.
"Would it bother you if I take them?" Liz nods to the crying baby and smiles encouragingly. "Might be easier for you guys to talk." Liz's recent fear of babies has faded at what the Doctor told her, being replaced with the usual fascination and love she has with kids and babies. Kids that belong to other people, anyway.
"The Doctor can help me." She says pointedly to the Time Lord who's fussing with the baby. The guy's like a mouse lemur with ADD that had too much sugar sometimes, Liz keeps that thought to herself. "I won't let him sonic your kid, Gwen. Promise."
no subject
He can't help but to smile at the interaction between Gwen and The Doctor. Then there's the fact The Doctor is acting like that ferret with a bad case of ADD. "We'll worry about a bit of fun later and I think the TARDIS can use the petrol stop." He walks over towards Gwen his eyes falling on the bundle in her arms and he wonders if this was the one he met. 'Rain check' that seals it.
"It's me the one and only. I left my TARDIS at my home in the Los Angeles area and hitched a ride with my old friend here." Jack's eyes leave the baby for Gwen and he holds his arms out for her. He knows she can use it. "Gwen Cooper meet Liz Sherman, Liz Sherman meet Gwen Cooper."
no subject
Gwen smiled and handed her daughter over to Liz. “This is Anwen. Anwen Cooper Williams. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Liz, Doctor.” She was confident that the Doctor wouldn't sonic her daughter. If he did, he might get a slap from her.
Gwen suddenly picked up on what Jack and Liz had been discussing. “No, not really lost. There’s a second archive.” Her eyes widened and her smile became a little more real as she spoke. “When I came back, I convinced Jack to create a second one. It’s off the books, so to speak. Rhys and I monitor it. There’s not much, it’s just a little storage shed, but we never told Unit about it.” She didn’t know what exactly they were looking for, but she hoped that she had it in her possession. “It has some weapons and some other things too. What are you looking for?”
“Jack, it’s so good to see you.” Gwen steps forward and gives him a hug, burying her face in his shoulder. He’s not ‘her’ Jack. She knows this. And still, having ‘a’ Jack in her presence is comforting. He knows everything that she’s been through and how hard it is not to crumble at the sight of him. “What’s this about a saloon? Drinking already, Jack,” she teased.
no subject
Then it's back to the shiny or um baby. "Hello Anwen, what a lovely Welsh name." The Doctor tells Gwen and he thrusts his hands into his pockets. "I'm not going to sonic her! Now why would I sonic Gwen's baby?" He shoots Liz a puzzled look and of course he mutters. "Jack wanted to move stuff to California.." He would rather dismantle the weapons that are in this second archive but 'other' things perks his interest. "I'd like to see what other things are in this shed."
"Oh, I was going to take Jack, the misses and Liz here on a trip to the Old American West. There was something about film and an Old Timey Picture. You can come too if you'd like." The Doctor's going to have to scold Jack if he get's a little too touchy with Gwen.
no subject
"Hey Anwen," she smiles at the child, hoping she doesn't start crying again. "I'll keep you safe from the mean old gun hating Doctor, I promise." Again, she's teasing. She can't help her relief at not being a mom and it's making her a bit giddy. She'd not ready for parenthood, not yet.
She shoots the Doctor another look. "Why don't we let Gwen breath a bit before we start planning a vacation that's got about a million percent chance of backfiring and becoming a mission, huh?" Liz nods to Jack and Gwen hugging, still amazed at the comforting effect her boss has on people. Jack always reminds Liz of her old boss at the BPRD, except not as old... at least he doesn't look as old as the late professor Broom did.
"Secrets buried in a shed? Sounds like fun to me. Beats the hell...erm...heck out of swimming and watching Charlie Sheen be an idiot." Liz winces, not sure if she's going to get a look from Gwen for swearing in front of Anwen.
no subject
He raises an eyebrow and there's a smile on the edge of his face. "We should get everything out from that shed. It might be only a matter of time until someone else finds it." Jack places his hands on Gwen's shoulders and he watches the hand off of her daughter to Liz. "I can keep it safe for you for now."
Jack doesn't care much about the guns as a whole but making sure they don't wind up in hands that could do more damage to the Earth than anyone. Jack let's Gwen find comfort in him, it's one of those things he's good at. "Right, I'm sure Gwen isn't ready to get shot at yet. If you'd like, I can let you and Rhys spend time in California. There's a HUB located in the Hollywood hills.. It's been abandoned since the sixties and it's still a work in progress in rebuilding."
no subject
Gwen smiled as she watched Liz with Anwen. The baby wouldn’t cry. She was too interested in the new people. Her eyes flicked back and forth between the others, though seeming to really love looking at Liz. “Oh, I’m all for going on vacation. Rhys could probably use the break. And I wouldn’t mind seeing somewhere other than Wales. Every once in a while, you just need a break.” She gave a small laugh as she looked up at Liz. “Don’t forget the power of the internet. We can watch Charlie Sheen being an idiot anywhere.”
Her gaze looks back to Jack, raising an eyebrow at him. “Hollywood?” Her head tilted to the side and she thought it over a little bit. “I…” She didn’t mind the idea of leaving Wales. To be honest, she liked the idea of getting away from Unit. Seeing them occasionally on the Plass always disturbed her. It was Rhys she was worried about. She didn’t know how he’d feel about leaving. “I think we should get the items from the shed, and then go talk to Rhys. Do you think you could pull some strings and find him a job, Jack. As long as he’s working, he might go for it.” She didn’t think Rhys would like the stay at home dad idea.

"It was not unprovoked! She was acting strange," The Doctor pouts a bit and he wonders exactly who they're talking about. "Rhys. I think we can get him a job dealing with lorry's in America or well.." He tugs at his ears and he knows their Gwen has taken to manning things in New York along with Toshiko and one random 'nice' Owen. "Sheen, that's the one who drinks tiger's blood isn't it?"
There's a good nod of agreement about a 'break'. It was a long year for these guys, it was always pushed to Jack to give everyone a break and for once it happened. "UNIT isn't the same organization these days. Oh, my good friend passed not long ago." He sadly speaks of his old friend from UNIT, The Brigadier whom he met decades ago.
He's going to wander off towards the TARDIS and he gives Anwen a wave of his hand. "I shouldn't be long." With this The Doctor leaves Liz and Jack behind.
no subject
She glares at the Doctor, but her heart isn't in it. Liz is more defensive than anything. "I was not acting strange, I'm just...adjusting, that's all. Go sonic Charlie Sheen if you're so hung up on it sonicing strange people."
Liz chuckles and ponder the shed. Something is better than nothing, far better than nothing and given what was in the HUB any number of those somethings could be world saving multiple times over. "Right, We need that stuff." She watches the Doctor walk off and frowns. "If you hurt any of those guns no amount of free trips to the past will make me not be mad at you!"
no subject
Jack keeps close to his old friend or well in this case a new friend with a familiar face. There's a quick glance between both Doctor and Liz for a moment, he's a bit confused and he might have to ask later about what that's about. He looks back to Gwen and the baby in Liz's arms. "She likes you, you know."
"I'm with Gwen on watching a wayward idiot on my property." There's a serious tone in Jack's voice. "I don't want him wandering around where my sons are." He's likely going to fix that problem soon enough with a bit of retcon in that man's drink.
Jack goes to lead Gwen towards the TARDIS and there's no point in letting The Doctor at this stuff alone. "Why don't we join him there. It'll give you time to contact Rhys. But yes, Hollywood, it's interesting and.." He glances himself over. "I still haven't gotten a tan."
no subject
Gwen's attention turned to Liz. "I will happily allow you to babysit anytime you want. We are a bit short on sitters here. Rhys and I aren't quick to trust people." However, if someone was with Jack, then Gwen usually trusted them. Or at least trusted Jack's judgment. And yes, she giggled at Liz's gun comment.
Turning to Jack, she shook her head. "Rhys is driving. I can't phone him for a little while. Not till he brings the lorry back to Cardiff. Still, I can take a short trip with you and help the Doctor. At least till Rhys makes it home."
